    Default 4e question

    Does weapon damage multiply?

    For example.

Say your base weapon damage is 1d8+4.

If you use a power that deals 2[W], would that attack deal 2d8+4? Or 2d8+8?

If your damage for a melee basic attack were 1d8+4, a 2[W] power would deal 2d8+4 damage as I understand it, because only the damage from the weapon is multiplied, not the damage from the associated ability score.

Your base damage is 1d8, not 1d8+4. You roll the number of dice indicated, then add the modifiers once.

[w] is weapon die (or in certain cases, die). So no, your static damage isn't multiplied on 2[w].
