Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
The doors are locked; they're big heavy affairs put in to provide the students with 'extra security'; you're not taking them out without deactivating the security system. The windows are sealed, and while not bulletproof (for the most part) are those highly shatter-resistant plastic composites.
Rooftop access has not been tested yet, but even if you got on the roof, getting down to the ground below would be a new obstacle.
In either case, the school itself appears to be barricaded in. At some point during the vampire madness it seems an active containment has been set up; the uniforms worn match no division of the armed services that the students have ever seen recruiting.
Some other things most students might know
The Principal's Office probably has a number of interesting documents in it..
The Nurse's Office probably has a wide variety of items used for the treatment of injuries and stabilization of patients until transport to Sunnydale ER could be arrainged.
Most of the 'fun stuff' in the science labs is kept under lock and key; the really potentally dangerous materials are kept in a private safe.
While not designed to be weapons per se, some of the supplies in the Athletics Deparment could be used for various purposes.
The Cafeteria. While not the first choice of discerning students of means, it still served moderately good, moderately warm meals.Catatar made for me many years ago ... pretty sure by banjo1985

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Can we get some general information on ADAM himself/herself/itself?
Also, checking in as a normal human being. I haven't been RPing, so it seems unfair that the school would be harboring an expert safecracker.
As a preliminary action, however, I'd sure like to scout out The Principal's office to find out if those documents are available.

The Principle wants out as much as we do doesn't he? He may be able to get us into the safe.
Aren't you glad we didn't lynch him?

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Edited to not give Adam any advance warning if possible.
I'm going to search the kitchens for a REALLY big cleaver, and also as many knives and similarly sharp implements as I can find. I also presume that they have ##Useful stuff for booby traps##.
I'm also going to try and find a room with ##certain specific features## to spend the night in and also grab myself a load of ##other useful stuff##. That way I can ##do something## to keep myself safe.
Also, if anyone needs safe cracking help, I may well be able to assist. However time constraints mean that I may need other people to do some of the other stuff.
I think I'll PM Helgraf with a TODO list and if you post here to say you're helping I'll let you in on my ideas and Helgraf can assume you're doing one of the things on my list.Last edited by Jontom Xire; 2010-02-09 at 04:25 AM.

Oh yeah, and can someone please come and assist me - perhaps two someones - in coming to the kitchens? There are bound to be lots of ##useful but heavy items##. ##We could use them to## pretty much guarantee that no-one is coming in.
I doubt that ADAM is ##EDITED##.
If you want to come help I'll discuss more by PM.Last edited by Jontom Xire; 2010-02-09 at 04:22 AM.

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Back when I got any RP done, I was Owen Thurman from this episode. So yeah, basically just a student.
Oh hang on - while I forgot about it a while back (Sorry), I have the Tome of Eldritch Horrors. Can I do anything with that that might get us out or affect Adam?
Regarding Adam, more generally, I'd just ask: is he as dangerous/resilient as he was in the series, i.e. lethal/nigh-indestructible?"'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
YES. THERE ALWAYS IS."

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Well I have the keys to the props department. Maybe we can find some stuff in there that can help get us out? Maybe a uniform like the guards have? I'll go check it out.

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Paul watches with concern as Starla grabs the fire axe, then nods once, abruptly. "Right," he whispers; then, more loudly, "Right." He vaults up onto the stage, and heads for the curtains backstage. "They build sets in here, right? The Drama Club? Should be all kinds of good stuff. Saws, hammers, wood... paint. Come on, let's see if we can't figure something out."

((Due to horrible weather, I'm giving you an extension to work on plans and decide who is going to get what. Either post in blue in thread or PM me. Try to keep number of actions reasonable - the more you try to do in one night, the greater the odds you'll run into ADAM.))

Starla nods and follows Paul, too freaked out by now to even consider the fact that they are behind the curtains...alone...and might die soon. Well, she considers the dying part, at least.
((Sorry guys, but in the spirit of RP and curosity, I'm gonna hang tight here tonight and see what happens before venturing out.))

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
In my PM I did say that I wasn't going to try to do the whole list, just what I could reasonably manage, in order of priority, and pass out the other tasks to whoever wanted to help. But I just thought I'd re-iterate to make it clear.
So I think in total I'll probably only have time to do the first 2 items Need more helpers. There seem to be an awful lot of people who have neither posted an action here or PMed me so we can co-ordinate and do teamwork.
Philistine and Dirk Kris, I don't know about US schools, but the UK equivalent of high school (or at least the one I went to) teaches what we call CDT which includes carpentry and metalworking and stuff like that. I'd imagine that this school has workshops with a better supply of wood and tools and welding torches etc than the drama club has.
I missed welding torches off my TODO list verdamnt es.

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Oooh, Shop class. Might have welding stuff, certainly should be better for heavy equipment. But the Drama Club's tools should be here, right off the auditorium, thus requiring less running through the halls. And most of them will be hand-tools, thus more portable.
Also. Paint is nice - if you can start a fire, paint cans will explode like bombs; even if you can't, splashing paint in something's eyes will generally slow it down (at least) while it tries to un-blind itself._______________________________________________

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
I'll help Jontom Xire with his plans. Edit: Actually, on further thought, I'll help with steps 1 & 2 of said plans; but then, if still reasonable, I'll go to the library and look for Giles' books on the occult, demons etc. And the weapons cabinet.
If Adam attacks me, I'll try to use the Tome of Eldritch Horrors on him.Last edited by Thufir; 2010-02-11 at 12:15 PM.

(( A couple of thoughts.
Canonically, Sunnydale HS does have fire axes (see S2E3, "School Hard").
The Props Department is probably right next door to where Starla and Paul are picking through set construction equipment and supplies. Team up? ))_______________________________________________

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Cerise will watch the hallway. If she sees ADAM coming, she'll scream and try to lead ADAm away from the others.
She has no real ability to help in any other way, so she'll fight by giving them time to do what they need to do.

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
There is much discussion, though not everyone is involved in the planning. In the end, several people leave the auditorium, most going off by themselves, but a few sticking together in a small knot. Lex-kat volunteers to watch the hallways to keep an eye out for the monster while the others are busy, but she can only watch so much of the halls at once...
-- Cafeteria --
Bishfish slips into the kitchen, looking to collect some knives, maybe some skewers. He moves quietly, the area lit only by the dim red light of the distant EXIT signs.
He doesn't notice the other dim red light in the one corner of the room. Opening yet another drawer, his lips curl into a smile. Paydirt. He picks up a pair of cleavers, looping one through his belt. Knives next.
There is a distant clatter from in the kitchen - he whips around and crouches, looking for the source of the sound.
There is a faint metallic whirring ... a moment of intense pain - and then nothing.
ADAM emerges from the kitchen and heads upstairs...
Bishfish was eliminated by ADAM
Later on, Jontom Xire slips into the Cafeteria; finds Bishfish's remains. Of the knives, there is no sign. But he finds the other thing he was looking for, pulling apart several countertops for the sheet metal.
-- Principal's Office --
Mustiado slips into the Principal's Office ... and finds the Principal in residence. A conversation ensues.
Thufir later entered the Principal's Office. At this point, the Principal was not in residence, so Thufir pulled out some ... interesting items ... and went to work on the wall safe.
-- Auditorium --
In the auditorium, The Bookworm maintains a lonely vigil over the body of Willow. Her condition worsens slowly but inevitably over the course of the night. The Principal stops in about midway through, gives a cheery little wave, then slips out again.
-- Drama Club/Props Dept --
Philistine, Dirk Kris, and Evnafets spend a lot of time acquiring tools and potentially useful items from the Drama Club and the Props Department.
-- Athletics Center --
Mr. Buttons (Reinholdt) slips into the Athletic Center and begins gathering rope. A lot of rope. It's quite the wonder how a cat can drag rope, but somehow he manages it. He briefly considers a way to bring his hooman along, but is distracted by something shiny.
-- Library --
At the end of a very busy day, Thufir enters the library and does some research; though not very efficently with the constant looking away from the books to see if he's still alone and safe.Last edited by Helgraf; 2010-02-15 at 11:09 PM.

Re: Vampire III: Sunnydale Nights
Phase 2 begins
Okay, in order to give this a bit more structure:
Each player can accomplish up to 3 actions in a phase. The more tasks you take on, the less effort you can devote to any one task (important if the task is one that will take considerable time or effort). Some tasks will require multiple actions AND/OR multiple persons working on them to succeed. Noisier/more intensive actions are more likely to attract the attention of ADAM.
ADAM follows a pattern of his own, though if he is near enough a disturbance, he may deviate to investigate.
If ADAM comes across a lone target, that target is almost certain to die.
Weapons, numbers, environment and luck all modify the potential outcome, however.
ADAM is not indestructable, but will take a significant amount of punishment to destroy. Whether it is better to destroy him or simply try to evade him until an escape plan has been implemented is up to you.
The narrator tracks any damage ADAM incurs secretly. If he suffers significant obvious injury (and someone survives to observe it) it will be mentioned in the narrative.Catatar made for me many years ago ... pretty sure by banjo1985
