Magic: The Gathering advice

So I'm building a deck so far it's a black and green. I'm running with black because it's offensive and green because it's defensive. Can anyone suggest any good cards?

Also, it'd help if you could give more details. What format are you using? What cards do you already have, so that we can try to build around them and synergize? What archetype (aggro, control, midrange, combo, etc.) are you going for?
