    Default Holiday Adventures!(Any D&D)

As the end of the semester, season, and year approach, I realize that I want to run a game featuring appropriate creatures, villains and locales. I will probably be appropriating Rich's gingerbread golem, but I want more. Are there any free suppliments detailing dire reindeer and workshop running elves dwarves? How about adventures revolving around the imminent sacrifice of stolen maidens at the solstice?

I recall WotC publishing stats for Santa Claus on their website, but I can't seem to find these right now.

    Also, Christmas tree ents.

^: +1 to that. There was a web supplement... I have it downloaded from the WOTC site, but I can't recall the link offhand.

Necromancer Games, which is where Gygax went after parting ways with...the company which had DND at that time, released a free adventure called the Feast of the Gobbler for Thanksgiving time.

    http://www.necromancergames.com/freestuff.html

Edit: A quick search gives me this from Santa Claus, DND

    Nicholas the Gift Giver.

I believe there's another one which details his workshop.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20021225x To be honest though, I'd expand the castle. And have a subterranean element.

Hannukah might make a better adventure. A small band of commoners led by a level 1 cleric using terrain and cunning to take on an army of thousands of fighters. All in a low-magic, limited-technology world. Sounds like a fun campaign. And if the PCs are getting overwhelmed, just rule that Antiochus does something really stupid.

+1 to this. As a Jewish gamer, I feel like I have to write this one-shot now. I'll get back to you.

Hmm, this thread could be helpful (and is pretty amusing).

Also linked from there is the Santa Claus pdf from Wizards. Who would have guessed that Santa has a Sneak Attack?

    You'd better not cry,
    you'd better not shout,
    if you've been bad,
Santa will sneak attack you in the side,
Santa Claus is coming to town.

Wait isn't Hannukah the story of the lamp that wouldn't go out? I admit my knowledge of such is probably disproportionately minuscule, so I assume that you are referring to whichever military campaign led up to the retaking of Jerusalem.

At any rate, are there any other holidays coming up that I could rip off for fun and profit?

Psh, that's the part that everyone knows. The part that people who look a little deeper know is that Judah Macabee (Macabee is Hebrew for Hammer, if you were wondering) led the Jews in revolt against the Romans, and holed up in the Old Temple with limited oil - that's where that point comes in.

Chanukkah is all about Jews kicking ass. Really.

EDIT: Also, that was not meant to be a condescending "psh". That was more supposed to be a "You think THAT'S cool, wait til you hear THIS" style "psh".

I see what you did there, and I enjoy it.

I then did not see what you did there until I quoted it and saw the formatting, and lamented. Overall, I'd hit about a mild depression on the emotion scale for your post.

Really the world needs more holidays like that. Also, I have heard of Judah Macabee, though I didn't connect him with your explanation of how things go down.

Furthermore, what is it with people getting the name "Hammer?" Aside from Judah Macabee(who was a high priest?), there is also Charles Martel(who was a grand vizier). Maybe it is just people in traditional "evil overlord" type positions.

Perhaps that all of these people had music in their souls.

That music, of course, being "Stop - Hammertime."

For Charles Martel, wasn't it because Martel's army was the "hammer" that stopped the infidel invaders? i admit my history is rather foggy at the moment though :P
