    Default 99 Low-Level (1~5) Adventure Seeds

1: An alchemist in town needs a handful of ingredients, but several of them have been declared dangerous and illegal. He'll make it worth the party's while to both aquire and smuggle in the ingredients...

2: After finding a cursed treatise on 'Necromancy Without Remains', a cleric of <Standard Good Deity> has been unknowingly summoning a Shadow every night, which is slowly draining the church staff of strength...

3: A suspect in the murder of a well-loved town official has been aquitted, much to the dismay of the townsfolk. Fearing that some vigilante will take the law into their own hands, the suspect enlists the help of the PCs to secret him out of the city...

4: An order of 'Knights' have been displaced from their 'lodge' by the one enemy they truely fear: The head-knight's annoyed wife. She's sick of them using her house as a 'lodge'. She suggests they do some real questing and clear out that abandoned manor outside of town...

5: "Turtles! Thousands of them!" The druid screamed, over and over, withdrawn from the world. She had wandered back into town from her grove, unwilling to discuss anything but "Turtles! Thousands of them!"
DM: The lake's surface ripples, sending a flock of ducks flying away as a pair of horns emerge from the water. Twin lances connect to a massive, skull-like head, jaws fairly dripping with acid. A long, sinewy neck descends beneath the water, cloudy and murky, hiding it's depth. "I've been waiting for someone to come looking after those pesky lancers..." The dragon grinned, sniffing the air. "And I hope you--"

    Cleric: "OMG DUCKIES!"

Except that, you see, the world to the tarrasque is a smorgasboard and it has a near limitless appetite. It isn't going to ask for the bill after just one helping.

    In that vein:

The Tarrasque has awakened again! It's being attacked, join in the fight! But what's this, they're not fighting, but showering it with gifts? What is this 'Tarrasquemas'?

That, and that's hardly a Level 1~5 adventure... I mean sure, you're not fighting it, but think of the xp they'd get...

    7. Orcs have absconded with the mayor's daughter. To get her back, the mayor hired a group of adventurers. The adventurers got paid 1/2 in advance, and decided they could get more by holding the mayor's daughter for ransom themselves.

    8. Local NPC spellcasters have been loosing their powers.

    9. One night, there is a massive meteor shower. The town's prophet declares the apocalypse is coming.

Now you, adventurers, have been hired to rescue they mayor's daughter from the wicked men hired to rescue the mayor's daughter. The first half of your pay is with them.

    10) A mid-to-high level bard has taken the mayor hostage until he hears a really good story. If you don't have any, he has ways to force you to go experience one.

    11) The dwarves in the nearby mountains have mined this area for ages, but the new shaft they dug appears to be on fire for no discernible reason. What could be behind it? You're expendable enough to go find out.

    12) The clerics of Nerull have always kept skeletons around, and they have the piles of legal paperwork necessary to keep the city guard off their backs for it (yes, these are fully licensed undead.) However, one by one, they've been escaping from the church's control... and become very affectionate. (I mean that literally. They want hugs. Not grapples. Actual hugs.)

My group once had a starting adventure sort of like this. I decided that, logically, we were the best/most competent group that the mayor could afford, since his daughter's life was on the line, so, logically, if we kidnapped her in turn then anyone he sent against us would be weaker. The rest of the group wouldn't go for it, though.

    13. People around town have been having dreams about being kidnapped by strange, luminous beings in their sleep.

14: A 'master' thief has been implicated in a rash of thefts, and needs one or more of the PCs to commit a crime and leave his calling card, to clear his name...

15: A scholar on sabatacle in the wilderness has come across a peculiar species of worm that secretes a hallucinogenic fluid. What's worse is that it seems highly intelligent, and desires only to reuinte with it's colony...

16: In their last adventure, PC's discovered a leather-bound journal with the words "Are they Lions?" written over and over in it, hundreds of times. In the back of the journal is a map, in an unknown language, leading to a long-forgotten tomb.

    17. PCs wake up with everything missing. Everything. Their only clue is a hastily scribbled note with the word "RAPTORS" written over and over. Find out what the heck happened. Acquire pants first, preferably.

    18. It is written in the Book of Shan Lai Ching:

After the Creation, the cruel god Moloch rebelled
against the authority of Marduk the Creator.
Moloch stole from Marduk the most powerful of all
the artifacts of the gods, the Amulet of Yendor,
and he hid it in the dark cavities of Gehennom, the
Under World, where he now lurks, and bides his time.

Your god Shan Lai Ching seeks to possess the Amulet, and with it
to gain deserved ascendance over the other gods.

You, a newly trained Aspirant, have been heralded
from birth as the instrument of Shan Lai Ching. You are destined
to recover the Amulet for your deity, or die in the
attempt. Your hour of destiny has come. For the sake
of us all: Go bravely with Shan Lai Ching!

22: An epidemic of sorts is gripping the city! Random, seemingly completely unconnected people are simply going comatose, while babbling random phrases about how wonderful the prestidigation spell is. "You can make nice food!", "I'll never need to tidy again!", is all they can seem to say, even if they have no access to the spell, or have never heard of it. And if the mystery is not solved, the entire town could be reduced to gibbering over a cantrip.
