[3.5] Spontaneous Summoner Build
Just floating a theoretical build for a 12th level Sorcerer - the spontaneous summoner. Here's the short version - feats (human, by 12th level):
H - Spell Focus (Conjuration)
1 - Augment Summoning
3 - Rapid Spell [cast Summon Monster as a standard action]
6 - Imbued Summoning
9 - Rapid Metamagic
12 - Quicken Spell

I'd swap out Imbued Summoning for Metamagic Spell Focus from Complete Mage, for 3/day metamagic on your summons at -1 cost. Otherwise it looks very close to most of my summoning builds, though I prefer conjurers :)
I believe sorcerers have the option from PHB II to swap their familiar for metamagic usage, if you want to save a feat that way. But I also really like imp familiars :PHandbooks: (Hosted on the new MixMax forums)
