Just out of curiosity (Powerful Build and Natural Weapons)
Say an Illithid Savant chows down on a half-giant's brain and gets that nifty Powerful Build ability.
Grapple checks from the Illithid now count as if the illithid is large (so +4 more to grapple from the special size modifier for large creatures).
Does the Illithid's tentacle increase a step in damage as well? I'm not sure. Thoughts?

No, it doesn't. It lets the Illithid wield larger weapons, but doesn't make its existing weapons deal more damage, not even natural weapons.
