aquiring dark vison
so i want to acquire dark vision but goggles of night are very expensive, is their a better way to do it.
What about dark vision (the spell) then a permanency, is their a set price in one of the official books for things like that?

IIRC, one of the vestiges you get from the Bind Vestige feat (ToM) gives you darkvision, and it's usable 24/7.

Slightly more expensive but more than worth it is the Belt of Dwarvenkind.

Re: aquiring dark vison
(BoED pg30) "Alternatively, an ascetic spellcaster can sacrifice experience points in place of expensive components, with 1 XP equivalent to 5 gp value of components."
Aside from that I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but I've heard that 1xp can transfer to being payed for with 5gp. So for darkvision the cost would be 5,000gp (1000xp x 5). If you need somebody to cast the spell you would have to add on to the price. So, (CL9 for Permanency x 50gp) 450 gp to get somebody to cast it for you.
So I guess around 5,450gp. Watch out for dispels becing cast on it though. Then again I may have calculated something wrong.78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.

Re: aquiring dark vison
if that math is right that looks pretty good less then half the price of the goggles and no slot to boot.

Re: aquiring dark vison
One level of Warlock can get you either See the Unseen (darkvision + See Invisible) or Devil's Sight (darkvision that works in magic darkness). Not the most interesting thing you can do with a warlock dip, but there it is.
