Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
If I didn't have so much schoolwork, I'd want to test out my revised Tier 3 build or the Tier 2 build (mostly done, but I haven't finalized my spells) I've been working on. As is, I'll just observe your fight, Olo. You have yet to have one that wasn't entertaining to read.
Boy did Tanaric teach me that lesson.
Also "have buffs that can't be auto-dispelled by people your level."

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
At least I teach you people these things before you fight someone with Real Power (tm).
Also, I know the change was for the best, but I'm afraid I can never forgive Claudius for taking away my metamagiced scrolls.
There will be a lifelong animosity between us that can only end in a five-part season finale now.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
That last one's a bit hard, since it's not that hard for a Psion to auto-dispel CL 25 spells at level 13. All it takes is two feats and an item or a spell. With one feat, it can auto dispel up to CL 19, 21 with the item or spell.
EDIT: On a side note: I have 3 characters that can match up.
Tier 0.5, Tier 1, and Tier 2ish.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-07 at 12:14 AM.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
Well, I don't expect someone to pull out a Cube when I attempt a qualifier. Nothing easy, of course, but nothing that I haven't heard of in concept before. CL-boosted Holy Word, Cerebremancers with 4-6 spells and/or powers per round, every attack is always against my flat-footed touch armor, Font of Inspiration + Cl-boosted Hunter's Eye for hundreds of sneak attack dice, reasonable things like that.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
Incidentally, I thought the agreement was that Twin Power/Twin spell were being banned, and Synchronicity was being removed from the ban list.
Is this no longer the case?
LOL, I've been beaten, and soundly. If my characters are solid, it's because they've been exhaustively tested and updated after each match I play to account for weaknesses.Last edited by PhoenixRivers; 2010-02-07 at 12:22 AM.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
I have several qualifier builds...most of them from my long-ago days of low level optimization.
I've got a Tier 2 Wizard or a Tier 3 Swordsage...either of those sound good for a qualifier?
EDIT: Or a Tier .5 Fighter.Last edited by Olo Demonsbane; 2010-02-07 at 12:38 AM.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
I believe this is the point where you cry oddly glistening tears for approximately fifteen minutes, then I make an effort to understand your position for another ten, then we have an epic duel in the sky for approximately thirty seconds before it cuts to commercial.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
I am fairly certain that this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer. Are web enhancements available for use?

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
I took Shneeky's Samurai build and made it so that it can intimidate as an immediate action. At the beginning of the battle.
It's probably not Tier .5, it's just impossible to beat if you don't have immunity to fear...and it's still a decent Dungeoncrasher after that, dishing out ~100 damage per hit.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
DMs:
SpoilerCan you use martial maneuvers in conjunction with the Spectral dagger, from Magic Item Compedium? The spectral dagger makes all melee attacks touch attacks, but with a specific, static damage. Martial maneuvers modify or replace the damage - for an example Insightful strike would make this potent indeed.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
Tier 0.5 is not dependent on terrain to be good. If something is situationally powerful, based on terrain? It's less than optimal. Otherwise, I can build a character that can breathe water, and use an arena that is wholly filled with water, and declare it 0.5 because anything that can't breathe water will drown.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
I am curious to see PR's tier 0.5 in action. Also, is there a reason that sofawalls cube is not to be found anywhere? Not allowed to play in the public or ? :)

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
Drowning actually takes a while, and I wouldn't be surprised if many combatants in the ToS either didn't need to breathe or could breathe water. That's just picking at nits though, I agree with your assessment that Tier 0.5 means it is going to win unless the opponent has built specifically for it. Crazy high will save or be cowering is close, but there are ways around it that are not specific counters to only that trick, like taking a bunch of Paladin would be. Distance is the easiest thing I can think of, it's unlikely but not impossible that someone could legitimately make the save, and the silliest plan I have is to shut my eyes so I can't see the scary scary person.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
I'm toying with item management now. Anyone wants to fight a tier 3.5~2.8 psiwarrior build?

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
There's an easy way to see it in action. I accept all challenges for exhibitions. (Oh, and against the weaker tiers, I usually don't open up with the strong stuff right off... I give em a chance to play a bit.) I'd likely lose to the borg cube, but I think I may have a chance against even it.

Re: Test of Spite [3.5.3]
There's a couple of reasons, one of which is that I helped with the final version extensively. Most builds I help with are at best exhibition only. :S
Lagren: I took Livers Need Not Apply, only reflavoured.
DocRoc: to?
Lagren: So whenever Harry wisecracks, he regains HP.
