Yeah, or general guides. I guess I should link the Jakeverse thread, but I don't want to be too egotistical.

That's my "required reading" for casters. Just about every caster should have SOME dispelling ability.

    Can someone pull together a:

    Early Entry handbook
We use a lot of different tricks here, many of which are virtually forgotten by the community at large. It'd be good to have a short list with explanations of the five or six most acceptable and useful ones.

    Class Skills: Unintended Access
This is a big one. Class skills are a huge and frequent impediment to accessing PrCs or feats, and it's really not easy to find all the little ways of snatching spare ones.

Do we feel like this is a good items list?

    For Reference:

    Sanctum Spell
    Precocious Apprentice
    Heighten Spell/Earth spell
    Heighten Spell/Versatile Spellcaster

UA Class Variants - For skills:
Savage Bard - Ur-Priest (matches saves and all skills)

Martial Study + Chameleon (Or other class that grants a Floating feat, such as Warmarked) = Skill Rank bypass

Heroics(Martial Study) + Psychic reformation is probably better.
    There's also Aerenal Focus.
    And the apprentice feats.

If one uses CoC, do both him and his opponent need to use Sanity rules?

    And about the firearms?

Personally, I'd say that Sanity and Taint were modeled after each other. I'd say if one is banned...

As for firearms, they exist in the DMG. I was debating getting an antimatter gun for a character once. Combine it with Giant Size, and you can get some decent damage.

It's in the altering the Technology area of the DMG, with Katanas, grenades, muskets, assault rifles, and laser weapons. Check DMG page 144.

Get it to colossal size, and it'd be firing for around 24d8 per shot.

Thoughts on an errata saying that page 144 of the DMG does not exist? Because.... actually... I have a better idea.

Is there a compelling reason not to support a mode that allows page 144 and a mode that disallows it?

Is the future tech stuff really that unbalanced, relatively speaking? The antimatter rifle is fairly powerful, yeah, but it can only fire once per round, and even at 24d8 per shot doesn't compare to most of the sheer overkill that people regularly break out.

It also does not have a price, which is a fairly compelling reason not to allow it.

The weapons provided on p.144-147 have punch, yes. Note: 145 has the Katana, Wakizashi, and the Kusari-gama.

146-147 have the modern and futuretech. And you're safe. The rules, as written, do not support the purchase or crafting of items that carry no price listing. In fact, p.145 explicitly forbids their manufacture. Available by placement only, like artifacts.

The most advanced weapon that carries a price listing is a single shot musket, which deals comparable damage to that of a greataxe.

I am still tempted to offer:

Fighter Only, Final Destination, Only Antimatter Rifles

    Arena, but....

    I have a counter offer:

3 Fighters, level 20, core (with antimatter rifles or laser rifles/pistols, as the fighter prefers).

Vs a single level 20 core wizard of my design.

Simulacrum and calling effects are out, otherwise core ruleset (rather than ToS ruleset).

I want to have some fun at the higher levels too, and besides, I designed an interesting core caster to showcase non-broken core tactics with wizards (don't expect Archmage, nesting time stops, gate, simulacrum, or the like. I just built a reasonably optimized wizard)... And I'd like to use him.

Each fighter should get up to 2 futuretech firearms, and 30 energy packs for free, in addition to WBL. These firearms can be enchanted, in which case, the cost will be 300gp + standard enhancement costs (masterwork, etc), and will take any ranged enhancement able to be placed on a projectile weapon.

    Question about LA:
is the LA+1 restriction before or after Buy-Off? I.e., is choosing an ogre as Race ok, since you can buy-off one LA before 13th?

I believe using LA buyoff to get a race to LA +1 is allowed, with permission. I believe also, that Racial Hit Dice aren't allowed.

As Aharon said, racial HD aren't mentioned in the general ruleschanges/banlist post. Did somebody come up with a build that would justify banning them? The only thing I can think of off-hand would be Phaerimm shenanigans, which would be a better target for a specific ban (if their source hasn't been banned already. I was skimming for specific mention of RHD.)
