Re: Recaiden's Resplendent and Rotating Realistic Random Banter #136
A good point. Very good.
Yeesh.
My last name is only four letters, but I cannot think of a single person I know who could pronounce it correctly the first time round. No one.
As for my first name . . . six letters and zero vowels. (Well, there *is* a y that vaguely passes.) It has a higher batting average than my last name but still the odds are I'll get some bizarre mispronunciation. Combine this with being virtually un-nicknameable (I have lots of nicknames, some of which include my first name, but all of which make it longer), and things get wonky.
...Yeah.Last edited by Dragonrider; 2010-01-02 at 09:11 PM.

DeeRee... epic brain fail: there is a vowel other than the y in your name.
(Before you ask, I know your real name because of facebook, Felix and coincidence)

I think I'm having a hate-attack. A sudden onset of generalised loathing for all things. Quite specifically people.

Re: Recaiden's Resplendent and Rotating Realistic Random Banter #136
My last name, Rubinoff (the u is hard), is spelled exactly how it is pronounced. It still seems catchy to some people, and they use it as a nickname, but I have a general aversion to nicknames and so I encourage people not to use it.

Step 2: Sell the goods for a higher amount than what you pay the workers.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit!

In one week, I am seeing Alan Holdsworth, Terry Bozzio, Tony Levin, and Pat Massetello play a completely improvised jazz/prog rock/fusion/electronica set.
I'm really excited about this.Avatar by Kris on a Stick

So my mom's off to Terrytown for a week to run a convention. I shall be without strict guidelines...
Sigh. So much work tomorrow...

Every time I see that site, Ookoodook, I wonder how it's pronounced.
Ook oo dook?
Oo koo dook?
Oo kood ook?
Etc.

I'm closing in on the conclusion of Death Note. What other anime is good?

Re: Recaiden's Resplendent and Rotating Realistic Random Banter #136
I dunno how to classify my interests too cleanly. I guess in anime I'm looking my some humour mixed with not too over-the-top action. For example Death Note has very little actual action, but it's still action-y.
I guess suspense/intrigue too?

Re: Recaiden's Resplendent and Rotating Realistic Random Banter #136
Cowboy Bebop. It's an anime that is recommended for almost everyone.
Eden of the East (Higashi no Eden) is like the Bourne Identity with humor. I liked this one a lot. In a sense, the action is like that of Death Note, in that there's not a lot of "action", but it can still hold your attention. I can't guarantee that you'll love it (it does have a few flaws, IMO), but it should be generally enjoyable.

Re: Recaiden's Resplendent and Rotating Realistic Random Banter #136
I get to ride on a plane tomorrow! I'm a bit nervous about it, since I'm not quite sure what the new rules are other than no objects in one's lap or carryon not in the overhead compartments and not being able to use the restroom. So I'm looking it up right now while picking over my stuff for stuff that wasn't contraband when I flew back home.

I'd suggest Full Metal Alchemist, myself. Because it's still that awesome.
Possibly Ghost in the Shell, too.
...what am I doing in Random Banter? I'm lost!

Re: Recaiden's Resplendent and Rotating Realistic Random Banter #136
Fixed that for you.
Ranma 1/2 or Slayers if you want something fun and not too serious but still actiony. Ranma 1/2 is martial arts romantic comedy (personally probably my favourite anime), Slayers is vaguely D&D-esque.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is good, but highly annoying occasionally. Also sometimes confusing. The ending especially.
I second Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist.
There's more, but my brain's fuzzy at the moment.

People always try to insert an extra E or A into my surname, so I've got into the habit of spelling it out whenever I tell someone for the first time.
Phase: Couple of slightly obscure animes, the former of which bears no resemblance to your guidelines, but I like it so much I can't not recommend it:
Air and Busou Renkin. The former will make you cry moon-tears, and the latter has a character whose face is the moon. They're both thematic!BANG → !
