Default Timeline and family tree software?

    Hi,

I'm currently designing my homebrew D&D world and would like to make 2 things: a timeline with all the mayor events and how they relate to each other and I'd like to make a family tree of some of the royal families that are important. Do any of you know of good software I could use?

Well, I dunno about the family tree software, but this online timeline generator is pretty cool. It'll at least get your started, & the entries are fairly useful, even though I tend to rewrite most of what I get out of it.

Well, I'm not so much searching for a generator, but for a way to organise the history is a graphical orderly manner, other than a list.

My Google query "graphic timeline" brings up a free (PC only) download for a program called SmartDraw. I have no idea how good it is, but there it is.

Edit: This About.com page may also be of some use.

A good way to do this would be with the charting tools in MS Word, or Visio if you have it.

If you do it inside of a drawing space, you could use flowchart tools to make what you'd like.

I'm currently creating something on Visio. It's not exactly what I wanted, but it will certain do. Thanks!
