Man, talk about flavor! These guys ooze it out of every pore, and they manage to do it without being overdramatic, which is a feat. Combine that with the fact that they have solid mechanics to back it up, and you have an awesome pair of classes.

Man, when it comes down to it, no one held any stops when it came to epicness. We have a class that is awesome incarnate battling mundane nobodies, we have newly-printed gods versus universal wardens, Material Plane guardians against spawn of the Far Realms itself, a family feud ... with wolves, twin disciplines that have ideological differences, Vestiges versus the Divine, and well ... Good Guys that Channel Devils and Good Guys that Channel Angels.

Anywho, I am going to have to give my vote to White Wolf Ascendant / Black Wolf Warrior.

I also realized that Xallace and my classes appear to just cut off from those links; I'm going to add a "continue to the next post" link to them now.

Tough choice. I like the Anchored Guardian/Seed of Corruption a lot. And the Onyxian Dreamer/Temple Waker is very well-done and extremely original.

However, the Seropaenean Exorcist/Seropanean Avenger are so amazingly well-done with great fluff and mechanics working together very well. And of course, I love binders. So my vote goes to that pair.

Honestly folks, it pains me to say this, but I don't like any of my competitor's entries. None of them strike me as particularly fun, original, game-changing, or, frankly, intriguing; most of my reactions start at "yawn" and end at, "so?".

A super special comment must, however, be directed at the Scions of Awesome and the Clerks of the Mundane; I hate joke classes. With a passion. I hate joke monster entries in the monster contest, and you can sure as hell bet that the first person who tries a joke class in my contest (see siggy) will be donating his guts to my garter collection. I've been of the opinion for some time now that, if people must make pointless creations for humor games, they deserve their own contest, because I honestly think that they clog up and detract from the contests that they are currently in.

That being said, I vote for the Lord-Wardens of the Silent Cage//The Illustrious Ones. Because I want at least one vote, damnit >.>

That seems... entirely unnecessary, Gareth. Remember the old mantra, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"? Yeah. Starting a post with openly insulting all the other entries just isn't good form.

The vitriol toward the Scion and Clerk is especially uncalled for. If you had bothered to get over your distaste for 'joke' entries and read the classes you'd find a couple of PrCs with solid mechanics, well crafted abilities, and flavor that, while maybe a little silly as written, is entirely mutable, and can fit a variety of situations. Maybe the Scion of Awesome is favored by the gods. Maybe he's just especially lucky. Maybe the Clerk is a part of a knights templar style group who hunt down spellcasters who begin to get especially uppity. Maybe he's a Lord-Warden in training, working to oppose the Scion of Awesome who is about to become an Illustrious One.

On that note, my vote goes to the Scion of Awesome and the Clerk of the Mundane. Solid mechanics that do something fairly fresh, and flavor that, while it is there, and well put together, isn't so inextricably tied into the mechanics that I can't tweak it without some abilities not making sense.

    Current Contest Entries:

Prestige Class Contest: In the Shadows -The Ghost Wyrm

Base Class Contest: Altar of Naught - The Nihilist

Entirely agreed. Gareth, you're entitled to your opinion, but here you just came off as insulting and acerbic rather than politely uninterested. And this is me saying it, my friend...and I don't come down on you without a good reason. I don't mean to insult you, but there are times when you should tone it down a little.

If I know you like I think I do, you weren't intending to come off as harshly as you do, but others would be inclined to read that as a straight and to-the-point criticism of each and every work entered in this contest, on a level beyond your personal opinion. I'd recommend double-checking comments like that in the future...or just not posting them to begin with.

That said, I'm not sure where my vote goes...I saw some really good stuff in this contest, even if some of the entries (including my own, honestly...that's what I get for a last-minute revision) didn't strike my fancy entirely. The Onyx Dream really intrigued me, and, in another direction, I've always had a soft spot for Binders. The Clerks and the Scions brought a smile to my face on concept alone, although I have yet to read the mechanics.

It'll take me a while to vote though...having to pair the strengths and weakness of two classes as a set is a little harder.

I have read entries of all participants, lot of good name and concept, however I dont like them as much as I like Lord-Warden of the Silent Cage & The Illustrious Ones. I always have vote so far in each contest for something I will use in a actual game. And I have include both of them in my game before they were even finished. I never been so excited about a PrC before as much as I am now, and Both are incredible. That's the real feel of Epic. It was something that they knew could go against them doing something Epic, the same way, people tend to not use Incarnum too much...

Hope another contest will excited me as much as this one did. That's what make me participate in futures contest. So far I have 1 entry and even if its not perfect will certainly help me for my futur entry in the next contest.

    Thanks for the inspiration.

EDIT: After seeing your message Djinn, I beg you to never design a Binder Prestige Class for any contest, I have yet to find any of them interested me enough to read everything about binder, the concept is nice, but just from reading the class, I fell asleep, But if you ever do it and its enough for me to want to play it...

You confuse me sir. Djinn's Seiškona of the Iron Bands was probably one of my most favorite entries in the PrC Contests ever, and it's a Binder PrC. I'd seriously recommend him to make MORE binder classes.

If only I could get him to make a few more vestiges for the Seiškona tho... (X says as he's researching the fae myths to make some for said class)

Also probably my personal favorite of my works within the past year or so. As for those vestiges...I'll make them eventually. However, right now I'm loaded down with other things.

Maybe if the next contest is an easy one for me, and I find myself with time to kill...I HAVE had some Vestige ideas...

Gareth: I would concur with Hyooz and Djinn, and also say that if you feel that way you should make it an official rule in your contests (and actually I think it would be to the advantage of the contests if you left such matters alone, even there, except for your own comments and voting).

Forgot that ever since XVI you are not allowed to vote for yourself?

BTW-I agree with you on that this contest being a bit weak. the disciple/supplicant is the only one except yours that interested me at all, but as I hate epic as much as you hate joke classes.... (yea...we play without epic. we continue the normal progression after 21...actually helping your non-caster quite a bit in comparison to casters...)

I trust anyone participating in this contest to have to a small bias, but at the same time, if you honestly think your work is head and shoulders above anyone else, then you should vote for yourself then throw an arbitrary vote towards someone else who you don't feel should win. Maturity is what I expect, and for the most part, I've always found it here in this contest.

People need to be subjective in their voting, for their own sakes. As for me, I'm casting my votes to the Anchored Guardian//Seed of Corruption duo. They need the love.

I would personally support a rule for future competitions to prevent self-voting, assuming the number of contestants remains at recent amount, at least 10, maybe? Not really sure.

At any rate, I'm still torn on what I will be voting. As silly as the Scion of Awesome and clerks of the mundane are, I love the tongue-in-cheek feeling they present. That and the idea of the universe running on Rule of Cool. And it's anti-thesis. To be fair, Drama isn't the anti-thesis to the Rule of Cool, but TV Tropes doesn't have much else to contrast with it at this time.

Then there are the Seropaeneans who get major points for using the binder, but I'm still not entirely sold on the Exorcist.

Of course, I could always vote for my team, but I don't necessarily think my work is up to that point. Hyooz gave some love to the Shadowcaster, which is largely overshadowed by the binder. Sure, the creator of the class offered up his own suggestions for how the class should be, but even then, there's very little official support for it.

So, yeah, no vote as of yet, but I am wondering: could we maybe have two separate votes for this competition? One for best team, another for best overall stand-alone class? I realize this contest has been a team effort from day one, but I'm still finding myself with a large disparity between how I view some of the classes individually in each team.

    So...

Gareth: I wasn't intending a joke. Sorry I offended your delicate sensibilities, but the classes as written are intended to be played straight. Granted, they are kind of silly, but they have just as much of a place in the game world as other things. I don't like epic much, doesn't mean I need to bash your class.

As an aside, I'm voting for the Seropaeneans.
