Re: Mount options. D&D 3.5
I once had a halfling who rode a cheetah.
And one who had an advanced eagle.
Then there's Fastieths from eberron and their battle-y counterparts whose names escape me.My Homebrew

There's a list in the DMG that includes Hippogriffs, Giant Eagles and Owls, Griffons and a few others.

If you're my friend's ridiculous paladin, you ride a Celestial Ghost Griffon mount (with paladin advancement of course).

The Draconomicon has a dozen flavors of Dragon Mount and I think Dragon Magic added a couple more.Last edited by Pluto; 2010-02-26 at 11:58 PM.

Re: Mount options. D&D 3.5
I also once had a halfling ubercharger that rode a cheetah. He traded his paladin mount ability for an alternate class feature and purchased a warbeast cheetah. I highly recommend the template though as a medium creature, I don't suppose the cheetah would be big enough.
Warbeast is on the last few pages of either the MMII or MMIII iirc. It gives a number of boosts including barding proficiency and +10 to base movement.

The Red Towel: Thread necromancy.

little time he had in life to read so much, to learn what he had to know.”
