    Default recommended d&d iphone/ipod apps?

Can anyone recommend some good apps for my ipod touch to do with d&d?

    I play 3.5.

So far I've downloaded dicebag. http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/dice-...285446680?mt=8

While we're at it, if anyone knows anything for others portable systems, in this case Symbian (I have a Nokia XpressMusic 5330), it would be very appreciated.

IMO, Diceshaker (just search as so, too lazy to search myself) is better than Dicebag, in that it's easier to use.

Still no modifiers to add, but there's a history of rolls if you want to alternate rolling (like Full Attack action with same damage throughout - happens often enough)

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I want to be able to add modifiers.

    Yep, that's the one.
    I wonder if there's a character-sheet application somewhere...

Just found "DnD Scribe" - looks useful - 3.5 character sheet w/ level up stuff.
Not free though, so can't comment on how it works till I get it (if I get it that is)

PDF books are too bulky for an iPhone. Instead you can get your own local copy of d20srd and copy that to the phone. Now you can look up any core rules and not have to wait for loading time.

I also recommend the Dropbox app (which is a great way to load the d20srd to your phone) in general because it lets you share your computer notes to your phone. I type up rough ideas of notes when I'm at work and copy them to my notebook before running a session. Having access from my phone to the original notes is just awesome.

Dnd scribe is awesome. Does die rolls too. Only thing missing is extensive item
    list like torches etc.

Somewhat on topic, if anyone happens to know of good games or apps on the ipod, let me know. I've had one since Christmas, and while it's great having the internet/maps/music/phone in one device, I've found that most of the apps are either pointless, ridiculous, or boring after 5 minutes.

There was a 'spellbook' app I had.
Costed a fortune, but I had money from a gift certificate.

Had all of the core spells, organized very nicely. Sorted by class, and then alphabetically, or by spell level. It was nice.

I rate Dicenomicon as a roller. Haven't found much else worth taking.

I have "Quick Roll -d20 Dice Roller" it's pretty good. You can add in all sorts of modifiers, make up the number of sides too. Then you can have characters, each with common dice rolls attributed to them. There's also some other stuff. I think it cost a few bucks, but it's pretty cool.

Here are three recommendations to d20 apps for the iPhone which I've made and am quite proud of:

d20 Rules - Contains all of 3.5e core plus epic, divine, psionic and variant rules.

d20 Modern - Contains modern, future, arcana and menaces.

PFR - Contains the Pathfinder reference document.

All these apps contain the OGL material from the above games. In my own opinion, these apps are by far the superior d20 SRD apps for the iPhone.

If you play old-school 3.5 (not Pathfinder), the app called DnD Scribe (which I have not made) sports a wonderful character sheet. Also highly recommended.

You kids these days and your iPhones and Androids and your google and your hula hoops and your nine inch nails and your polymerase enzymes and your blue jeans and your ear piercings and your nail polish...

Back in my day, when we wanted encyclopedic knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons, we memorized the books and we liked it that way because it built character.

Well, I didn't just mean the books - even simple stuff like dice-rolling apps or character sheets/portraits or dungeon maps or even just fantasy music/sound effects stuff

And I memorize the books just fine! In fact, it's a lot easier to do it at work when you look like you're reading a manual
