"Don't you think I know that?!" he says, sounding more than a little hurt. he looks away from her, closing his eyes tightly. "After over three years of this, I have no answer for what is happening. It's...terrifying." Jer's voice is much softer now and trembles, actually letting some of his fear show.

Andromeda simply reaches to take his hand, not saying anything.

Jericus takes it gently in his human hand and his shaking starts to subside. "I have more knowledge in my head than I can keep track of, yet..." He starts reaching for her hand with his daemon one before jerking it back, not wanting to push her willingness to be near him. "I don't want us to be pushed apart by this."

"Appropriately disgusting for such a back water world as this. Very well then. I will accompany you on this.. "Cultist hunting trip. That is, unless you'd be adverse to someone else observing your methods."

He says, moving with some mimicry of graceful poise to get closer to Lazarus, giving a critical look to indicate his response could very well determine much of their relationship as Inquisitors.

At this point Dyna coughs slightly to get attention. She really has no idea who this guy is aside from the fact that he's apparently important in some capacity. From what she's been able to gather of these people's home reality it isn't a terribly nice place...

"I can lead the way to the previous safehouse of the Cult of Manterok easily enough. It... honestly isn't too far from here..." without really thinking about it Dyna glances off in the direction of the Slums.

The Slums are always all sorts of fun!

And the one part of the City that's still filled with all sorts of unpleasant things.

Everyone loves unpleasant things!

"It should be abandoned. But as with anything dealing with the Outer Gods whatever traces that might be left are still dangerous."

The assassin standing next to Lazarus moves as well, subtle shift of posture to put her in a better position to come to the inquisitor's aid should Daniel's movement prove to not be so polite.

"I am still here, Jericus." Andromeda points out.

The Adept/Psyker/Half-daemon(disguised) shifts his stance slightly as well, ready to call upon his abilities in case they're needed.

Jericus gives her a sad smile. "You've been the only thing keeping me sane, you know that, right? Every day, my head pounds from everything trying to break my mind, but I hang on, just because of you. Thanks." He seems to relax quite a bit now that she's said that.

Andromeda stares at Jericus in a bit of amazement. Was she really that important to him? Even if the truth of what he was had her more than a little scared, who he was hadn't changed. She couldn't abandon him now, not when he needed her.

"You are very welcome." She says quietly, squeezing his hand and scooting a little closer to him.

Jericus turns her hand over, looking at it. "Every day, I have to put up with the Warp trying to force it's way in, the information in my head trying to burst out, and the corruption spreading across my flesh. You're the only thing I can focus on daily that doesn't cause me pain." His wings move back a bit, letting her move closer if she wishes. He'll start reaching for her hand again with a claw slowly, if she shows any sign of not liking it, he'll keep it away.

[HQ-Sanctuary Transit]

Helicopters have been moving to and from the main Imperial HQ and the Sanctuary, which is still floating above Inside, for some time now. This has been occurring offscreen up to this point, so I thought it would be good to point it out.

The pilots aren't very happy, though. One such expression of this is found in a discussion occurring between a pilot and co-pilot of one such fuel chopper.

The co-pilot starts. "Sir...Why don't they just land the damn thing?"

The pilot's reply is simple and spoken as though it was a recitation."Security reasons, apparently. The Emperor's aboard and hasn't come down since the Haven crash, since Haven was boarded."

"...Permission to speak freely, sir?"

"Granted."

"That's a load o' bull****. We have a way to detect those bastards now, and we're wasting fuel on useless security?"

"Useless?"

"Don't you know what the Emperor can do? Fly around like he's a bloody plane and go straight through most anything..."

"...I see. Is that all?"

"Yes sir."

The pilot makes a mental note to check this out with others.

Andromeda tenses and squeezes Jericus' hand a little tighter. She wasn't certain about the daemonic claw on his other arm, but she doesn't pull away, knowing he wouldn't hurt her.

He's still in complete control of himself, so she has no need to worry. Instead of attacking her, he traces the lines on her hand with a claw gently. "It's...strange. Feeling like this. Being so different than before. I hadn't realized how much I changed until I showed you the first time, having kept it secret for so long." Jericus sighs and gives her hand a squeeze. "I'm still trying to disbelieve it."

She shivers a bit as the claw trails across the skin of her palm. "I wish it weren't true." Andromeda whispers, trying to lay her head on his shoulder. "I hate that you're being tortured like this."

Jericus gives her a slight smile. "Andy, as long as you're here, it's never torture." He says as he gives her fingers a light kiss. "Trust me, my lady." His voice as reassuring as he can make it.

The tone may have meant to be reassuring, but something about it made Andromeda crack. "Oh Jericus! What are we going to do?" Only a short while ago, she had been contemplating a relatively bright future, free from the constant conflict that life in the Inquisition had brought them. But now? Jericus could never retire. And she couldn't possibly leave him behind.

Jer scoots back, further onto the bed and rests his head on the pillows, his wings spread out under him to keep them from cramping. He sighs. "I don't know. I don't even know what I had been thinking when I brought that up." He shrugs. "Escape from all of this I guess. But for now...all we can do is survive one day at a time like we always have. There are bound to be weeks or months without must in the way of work." A thought occurs to him and he grins. "Who knows? Maybe you'll become an Inquisitor yourself and I'll be bound to you instead. How does that sound?"

Andromeda laughs a little at that. "Me? An Inquisitor? You really think so?" She asks, looking back at him.

He smiles. "I see no reason why not." Jer's smile turns into a slight amused smirk. "Before you doubt me, remember, I did swear on my electoo I'd never lie to you, right?"

"You did." Andromeda agrees. "And you still have it, so it must be the truth."

Jericus takes a long moment to look over his Assassin friend as he lays back, relaxing, his clawed toes twitching a bit keep from being caught in the blankets. He sighs wistfully as he watches her. "It's times like this..." he says. "when I can forget everything else and just watch you in peace, content with how things are."

A strange masked man in a full body suit and red gloves, strides in like it's no big deal that he is an obvious criminal. He walks up to the receptionist and politely asks,"Excuse me ma'am, but I have a query for you. Would you mind very much, ever, at all, were I to rob your bank? Now I shall give you some time to think the answer over, no need to rush, we have all the time in a bottle forever, or something like that."

Brendan (or maybe Brenda, if the potion hasn't worn off yet ) seems to have gone out and collected a few things over the weekends - need-its for the wedding. But right now is putting the finishing touches on the store, which seems to be in a perpetual state of 'opening tomorrow'.

"But we don't often have times like this." Andromeda laments. "Only a little downtime between each mission. Before each assignment that's more dangerous than the last."

Jericus sighs. "Maybe not, but we should still make the most of it. And even if I can't retire, that doesn't mean you can't." There's a pause. "I don't want you to hold up on your own life just because of me."

"Jericus, this is my life." She says, looking back at him. With a sigh, she lays back on the bed next to him. "I think I'm just tired, is all."

Upstairs, a wolf is unable to open the door, and not concerned enough to jump out the windows, so it's just laying on the floor.

Especially since Brenda is at the moment coming upstairs, and going to open the door...

People! There must be place to hide, right? Ash darts into one of them. Perhaps under an armoire or something.

Indeed, there's a old-fashioned armoire, that can be easily hidden in as Brenda walks into the room, then looks around in perplexity, trying to figure out where Ash went to.
