Pi Day Encounters?
Next Sunday is Pi Day (3/14) and my gaming group is half-expecting (and half dreading) that I'll have a Pie themed element in our next encounter. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I've already considered throwing an "themed" ooze at them, but that's sorta bland. I could have the foes use pies as improvised weapons (temporary "blindness" plus a morale penalty). I could...really...I don't know and that's why I'm here asking.
Please tell me I'm not the only one crazy enough to have this topic on their mind.

Re: Pi Day Encounters?
Just... pies?
How about stopping a group of pirates led by a piping bard from pillaging the pyramid of King Piramesses and stealing his Golden Pie, an artifact that's valuable, cursed, and delicious in equal measure? It always amazes me how often people on forums would rather accuse you of misreading their posts with malice than re-explain their ideas with clarity.

Re: Pi Day Encounters?
Have the party fight 31.4 skeletons? A wizard with Spell Thematics whose spells all look like pies? A Pied Piper who's not happy about the crust on his face and wants to destroy the world/town/party/some guy? If low level, intoduce them to the Pi-rat menace (rats who travel in packs of 3141 and love to eat pie)? Come on, the puns are endless!

Don't use Pie. Use Cake, and mess with their heads as much as you possibly can.
Make them appreciate the irony.

Re: Pi Day Encounters?
Pirates wielding pies that do piercing damage, while aided by their bardic friends (pipers, naturally), who can summon piebald p(r)imates that throw pineapples?
Sorry, that's the best I can do at 2:30 in the AM.

In America, it's month, day, year for some reason, where saner parts of the world have it day, month, year.
It always amazes me how often people on forums would rather accuse you of misreading their posts with malice than re-explain their ideas with clarity.

Re: Pi Day Encounters?
How can you argue that it isn't weird to US? O.o You have disgraced his horrible pun off of a weird movie! :P
However that is a great point. Since you seem to use the American date system, why not throw them a curve ball by using April 31...wait, April only has 30. Shucks.
Also I recommend a trip to the candy demiplane. It is written in the Portable Hole of Beer, I believe. Make the leader of the pie side in charge of this one shot.Originally Posted by Alabenson

Re: Pi Day Encounters?
Month tells you about important things like season. Many calendar-based factors (climate, etc) will vary based on month, making the month the most important. Year is relatively unimportant, in terms of calendar, because it changes too infrequently for an update on its status to matter. Day thus goes in the middle.

Re: Pi Day Encounters?
That... uh... That date doesn't exist. April only has 30 days.
Also 22/7 is Pi Approximation Day
Anyway, I suggest this module.BANG → !
