Mountain rage bonus stacking question...
Hi Giantitp,
I was working on a trip build with a Goliath barbarian 2/fighter(dungeoncrasher variant) 6/crusader 2, and in so far, look pretty solid and all. I've worked out just about all the mechanics and modifiers for this guy... except for one
The mountain rage variant for goliath barbarians makes raging into a +6 instead of +4 to Str on top of the other normal benifits/cons, (+4 Constitution, +2 Morale bonus on Will saves, –2 penalty to AC), AND makes him a large creature...
Does the stat bonuses of becoming a large creature when you were a medium creature, (Str +8, Dex –2, Con +4, Natural armor +3, AC/attack –1 vr. medium creatures, more if smaller), stack with the mountain rage bonuses, (+6 Str, +4 Con, est.), thus a +14 Str, +8 Con, est.?

Re: Mountain rage bonus stacking question...
No. The modifiers for changing size category apply if and only if the means of changing size category does not already specify its own modifiers. Typically, this means monster advancement through additional hit dice. Just about everything else specifies its own set of modifiers, so a player will almost never need to reference those modifiers.

Re: Mountain rage bonus stacking question...
No, they don't get the bonuses for becoming a large creature when they rage. IIRC, it spells out what benefits it grants them explicitly (given that it overrides their powerful build).
