can anyone give me a guide to making a character? The books (I have requiem and the core book) just confuse me

There is an example of it on Page 97-98 of the VTM book.

It works the same way in all the books except in core you don't add a template to your character.

First, create a basic mortal. This is detailed in the core book pretty clearly. Then, apply a vampire template. The vamp template is pretty basic: each clan has a choice of an extra dot in one of two abilities, each clan has a weakness, you get three free discipline dots, and choose a covenant.

Can you be more specific on what exactly is confusing?
