    Default Forgotten Realms Books

In my ignorance I though FR and Faerun were the same thing and didn't make a post for it. What FR books would you say are worth buying even if you are playing in a different setting?

Edit: Yes this is 3.5, though 3.0 might do.

If this is 4e, everything is compatible with core. If this is 3.5, ask your DM.

Not particularly helpful if the DM doesn't have any of the books in the series.

Faerun is simply the largest continent on Abeir-Toril, the world Forgotten Realms is set in. For the most part, Forgotten Realms DOES take place in Faerun. The realms outside of Faerun are not represented in 3.0 onwards except for Kara-Tur, which is sort of represented in Unapproachable East.

Maztica and Zakhara are not represented in 3.0. There is a free Maztica PDF on the Wizards of the Coast site, though.

From a DM's POV, Monsters of Faerun is a very sueful supplement. For players, I think Champions of Valor/ Champions of Ruin is good.
