You're making the dragons seem more innocent than they are. They didn't deserve death, especially of that kind, but they were nowhere near innocent either.

The smuggling ring made trade between the northern and southern Kyarian city-states a nightmare, and also made it extremely difficult to trade with Tobeem, to the north. Furthermore, the dragon father did use intimidation to get what he wanted, even if he didn't severely injure/kill anyone.

Also, the fact that this younger dragon didn't pay, even if he only stole out of desperation, is why he's Lawful Neutral. And there ARE deer in the forest, just so you know. Natural population cycles; it was a low point. (And please don't try to contradict me on natural population cycles; I've gotten awards in ecology.)

And the virgin's blood thing is best left as a noodle incident.
