Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
So we've been thinking about re-starting our Epic campaign. When I joined in I far outshined my party (consisting of a Bard w/ prestiging, Paladin w/ prestiging, a guy who dies too many times to count, and a Cleric that doesn't make the best use of his spells). I was a Druid 3/Wizard 3/Mystic Theurge 4/Arcane Heirophant 13, and making ample use of Persist spell and extending a variety of other buffs.
Well, I ended up just being too powerful for the party level (I quickly realized after one day of game play). So now instead of bringing my power down a TON, I want to just make an uber-party buffet, to help out my home-dawgs (dig?).
I'd like to do arcane, as our only source is the Bard (with not great spell choices either). I was thinking something along the lines of Sorcerer or Wizard into War Weaver(!!!squee) into....???? Also, I've heard talk of this here Warmage/Rainbow Servant, and was wondering exactly how that worked, and if, since I'm ECL 23, I could fit the 5 levels of War Weaver into that for ultimate party versatility?
And what prestige class is it that lets you change a personal spell to touch? Again, something that could really rock in going into War Weaver.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
We've likely only got about 23 in game days left before the dimension is pretty much destroyed, not enough time or resources to do Epic Spells, please avoid them.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
So.... a Rainbow Servant Warmage War Weaver WOULD be able to cast Cleric spells up to level 5 in the weave??????? Hello Righteous Might etc.... for the party.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Rainbow Servant adds all Cleric spells to your class spell list. Since Warmages, Beguilers and Dread Necros can cast any spell that appears on their class spell lists...
Spellguard of Silverymoon (Player's Guide to Faerūn).
Combine it with the Magic of the Land feat (Races of the Wild) to make more spells applicable.Halfling healer avatar by Akrim.elf.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
You need four levels of Spellguard of Silvermoon to get the Personal->Touch ability, though, which leaves you one short on levels. 5 Warmage/10 Rainbow Servant/5 War Weaver/4 Spellguard is level 24. To pull off this combo in full, you will have to either be content with only 4 levels of War Weaver or use an early entry trick to get away with fewer than 5 levels of Warmage.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Thanks guys, I'll consider that. Now, new thought: Wizard/Incantatrix/War Weaver/Spellguard?
Incantatrix lets you suddenly add metamagic without increasing spell level right? So suddenly everyone gets a Persisted Wraithstrike? or Persisted Greater Blink?

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
War Weaver is going about it the wrong way.
Search* the site for Team Solars and get it done that way. Since it is an ECL 18 build, you'll have at least 5 levels of play to add personal touches.
*Assuming I don't find the link first.

Turns out you'll need most of the levels just qualifying for all the components by yourself.Last edited by Godskook; 2010-04-10 at 11:43 AM.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Search? Why? Just look two posts above yours for the link in my sig.
Though, yes, condensing it down to a single character does require a few more levels and ends with less total buffing ability. Oh, and if you want that much use of Cooperative Metamagic without being a Wu Jen, you'll have to get Miracle on your spell list somehow. The Luck domain is your best bet, through either Arcane Disciple or a PrC granting the domain.
Also, if you pull off anything anywhere near that extreme, be prepared for your DM to throw books at you unless he made it very clear beforehand that power that extreme is acceptable if it's shared with the party.Last edited by Douglas; 2010-04-10 at 12:12 PM.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Grah, ok, I really need to curtail my power here while upping the rest of the party's. I really just like the idea of the Warmage/Rainbow Servant/War Weaver/Spellguard. Sit back and let the shenanigans unfold.
What are some of the best level 1-5 spells that I can hit all my party with?

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
If you use the Dragonsblood Pool from Complete Mage to get a free 3rd-level spell slot, you can take your first level in Rainbow Servant at 2nd-level. That means that with a Warmage 1/Rainbow Servant 10/War Weaver 5/Spellguard of Silverymoon 4 you have 3 levels to screw around with before ECL 23. I suggest that they progress arcane casting if your DM doesn't let Rainbow Servant give 10/10 spellcasting progression. Personally, I suggest one level of Sacred Exorcist for Turn Undead and one level of Archmage for Arcane Reach. Turn Undead + Southern Magician lets you use Divine Metamagic on your spells, and Arcane Reach lets you Persist touch-range spells (which is all of your personal-range spells, due to Spellguard). Divine Metamagic is great for you because you have sky-high Charisma and therefore lots of innate turn undead uses.
I suggest giving everyone in the party Divine Persisted Divine Power and Divine Persisted Greater Mirror Image*, of course. Other than that, I don't have strong preferences for spells with levels 1-5, although there are a lot of very good cleric spells in the Spell Compendium.
*Only good if you don't expect every single monster to have true seeing, of course. At epic levels, your mileage may vary.Last edited by imperialspectre; 2010-04-10 at 12:53 PM.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Sweet, sounds good. Er- where's Versatile Spellcaster at again? Sorry but I'm AFB all weekend.
So, I'd LOVE to get Arcane Spellsurge on my spell list, any way to do that? Isn't there a feat, is it like Extra Spell or something that would let me get it on there?
Ok, so what other prereq's do I need for Rainbow Servant? And Spellguard?
Can I fit this all in then? Warmage 4, Versatile Spellcaster to get into Rainbow Servant, 10 levels of that, War Weaver 5, and Spellguard 4. Does that get me everything I need to be an uber-buffer?

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
And is there any possible way to get my charisma to AC or saves (more concerned with the latter) through spells or anything else? All I can think of is Ruin Delver's Fortune, but that's only Sorc/Wiz I think.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Crap, Shapechange is only on the Animal domain list for Clerics isn't it? Does that mean I won't have access to it? Warmages don't happen to get it do they? Or polymorph even?

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
Well, at least I'll have access to the Bite of X series, plus a Miracle'd Giant Size, so I'll be able to buff myself into a combat monster when need be (cause me like whacking things).

But I still won't get access to a Domain only spell will I? I mean, without taking Arcane Disciple.

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
My understanding is as follows - the Legacy Champion PrC (Weapons of Legacy) has as one of it's class features "+1 level of existing class features" (for 8/10 levels).
The wording of War Weaver is "The maximum level of spell you can cast into an eldritch tapestry is equal to your class level." The theory is that, by RAW, Legacy Champion can push the "class level" of War Weaver beyond 5, at least for the purpose of abilities based on "class level". This is considered a very cheesy move by most, but in an epic game it probably shouldn't be a deal breaker.
Other things that can achieve the same effect are Bloodline levels (UA) and Uncanny Trickster (CS).My winning competition entries: Kinvig Arrumskor | The Great Pumpkinhead | Wynfrith d'Acker

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
That's... that's fantastic! But is there any way to fit it into my build? How far in Spellguard must one go to get personal to touch spells? Grah, I need more levels!!!

Re: Make me an ECL 23 pary buffer!
And, wait a second, Residual Metamagic and Persist spell would let me persist up to a third level spell on me, then next round it would only be a 3rd level spell, with persist still applied, cast into the tapestry allows me to persist spells for my buddies all at once doesn't it??? :D
