So, I just finished watching the first episode of the Magic Kaitou anime adaption; storywise nothing new (same as manga; I'm waiting for Hakuba to show up, should be interesting), just a modern, flashier retelling of the original manga so far.

Although, the art style was a bit off for being used to the way people are drawn in Conan, but I'll get used to it.

I could have told you too. I visited a hot spring in Hungary. Quite a lot of old, ugly people, as well as fairly dirty water and a surprisingly rundown structure. The last two things don't have to apply to anywhere else.

That would appear to be a manga, a type of comic book or graphic story form from Japan. In this case it's taking characters from the popular Mobile Suit Gundam show and franchise and using comically caricatured and out-of-character versions of them to illustrate popular folk sayings via short vignettes.

Come to think about it has anime ever shown the male side of the bath to be anything fun. I seem to remember at least more then once it being shared by one-two guys and farm animals. Never any real numbers of men, never having fun their. Maybe the sparseness and depression is a way to hint at the vast sea of wrinkly old arse without directly taking it too older men.

Really? Doesn't look that different from the normal Mazinkaiser. Only with a dark (or should I say darker, because it IS Mazinkaiser) redesign.

It has a face on its torso, but every super robot has a face on its chest nowadays. Some of them even came before Gurren Lagann, for example Godannar.

I do remember a manhunt in the male side of a public bathhouse in Patlabor at one stage... Of course, the terrorist they were hunting was actually a woman, but trying to find them was pretty crazy.

And I might want to check out the new Gaiking someday. It was pretty fun in SRW K - not that I can understand a lot of the dialogue, since it's in moonspeak and all.
