Default "Class Names" for 4e hybrids

Sometimes referring to oneself as a sorcerer/barbarian hybrid doesnt give off the vibe you really want. Sometimes you would rather just say Ragemage or something to that extent.
As a resource to those experimenting with the hybrid ruleset in the PHB3, I thought we'd build a list of all the class names we're using for our hybrids besides the obvious "class/class hybrid" title.

I'll go ahead and start us off,

I dunno, celestial usually means something different in D&D-land.

Especially given that the stars in 4E are implied to be connected to the Far Realm in some way, in the Dragon Annual article on them.

So basically, you're making pacts with Cthulhu-esque Elder Evils.

At least, that's the most common interpretation.

A Star Sorcerer (Arcane Power), is slightly different- a Sorcerer/Paladin might fit the "Knight of the Stars" concept.

Ah yes, just like Astral and stuff. Quite odd how all those Latin words refer to gods and the divine in D&D4, while Greek words refer to the Far Real and 'aberrations'. Too bad my ancient Greek is rather limited.

This might work as a prefix/suffix list. Like:

    Cleric
    Healing ---
    --- Healer
    --- Priest

    Fighter
    Combat ---
    War/Battle ---
    --- Fighter
    --- Warrior

    Some cleric-y ones.

    Paladin/Cleric - Crusader
    warlock/ cleric: Heretic
    warlord/cleric : Holy marshal

and on a prefix/suffix note, marshal would be a good one for warlord I reckon.

    I would have gone with:

    Paladin/Warlord: Crusader
    Fighter/Warlord: Marshal or Warblade

But anything along those general lines will do.

Maybe carry on in this vein, pinching names from 3.5, or making up a few:

    Paladin/Rogue: Inquisitor
    Bard/Swordmage: Bladesinger
    Assassin/Rogue: Shadowdancer
    Wizard/Cleric: Theurge
    Ranger/Seeker: Hunter

Maybe Skald might do for a Bard/Barbarian.

There are 24 Hybrid half-classes. That's (24*23)/2 = 276 possible combinations. If you actually manage to come up with 276 unique class names, I will be amazed.

Main reason I thought of it the other way was that Skalds were the Norse equivalent of bards- but the Norse didn't have much in the way of druids- though they did have the barbarian/esque berserkers.

    Hence Bard/Barbarian.

That said, Bard/Druid could work as well.

I would put forth Berzerker for Druid/Barbarian, as it literally means "Bear-Shirt Wearer." If being able to actually change into a Bear doesn't mean you are wearing a "bear shirt," I don't know what does.

    I second Skald for Bard/Barbarian

In Forgotten Realms, some berzerkers (like Fyodor in the Starlight and Shadows trilogy) develop the ability to shapechange into creatures like giant ravens, or bears.

    So, Berzerker seems about right.

Just a nitpick... Wizards and CharOp uses pipe "|" instead of slash "/" to distinguish between multiclass and hybrid characters. Thus, a fighter/wizard is a fighter who took Arcane Initiate, while a fighter|wizard is a hybrid fighter and wizard.

Yes- but most of us have already put them up.

Maybe stress that (for this thread only) the / is being used to represent hybrids- and that multiclass characters will not be discussed at all, to avoid confusion.
