[3.5] Slime Lord
While looking through the Player's Guide to Faerun for something else, I happened upon the Slime Lord prestige class. In the past I've skipped over it after a quick glance - 7/10 BAB, dead levels, one strong Save, no progression of casting or anything else, mediocre Skills with no Tumble or UMD, requires +4 BAB, 6 ranks in Disguise, Evil alignment, and Willing Deformity.
Garbage.
But out of curiosity I kept reading, and here's what I found:
- Level/2 times per day, you can turn your hands to Slime as a Move Action for one round per level. Then you can attack once (Standard Action) or twice (Full Round Action). Enemies hit must make a Con based Fort Save or be Paralyzed for 1d4 + 1 rounds.
- Supernatural Charm Monster level times per day (Cha based Save).
- Immunity to Sleep.
- Supernatural Alter Self at will with no cap on duration or number of uses.
- DR 5/slashing or piercing.
- Immunity to Polymorphing.
- Extraordinary Blindsight.
- Immunity to critical hit, sneak attack, poison, paralysis, and stunning (capstone).
Me of five years ago laughed at this class. Right now, I sense numerous possibilities. Not as horrible as your standard Polymorph abuse. But still there.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
I prefer this awesome homebrewed PrC, which offers casting and other goodies. I used it for a cleric of Jubilex who was the second in command for the BBEG of a campaign I recently did.
However, I did use Slime Lord for some of his minions, and it worked pretty well. Between that, Thrall of Jubilex, and some fun oozy templates (not to mention actual oozes) I have quite a fun and slimy dungeon to torment my players with. How to Play Rogues Properly:

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
It has weak Will saves and no immunity to Mind-Affecting. Alter Self is nice, but I'd rather get that from Tattooed Monk.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Combine with Oozemaster 10 (Masters of the Wild), and I think you can alter self into an ooze. "One with the ooze" = "His type changes to ooze for determining what effects and items can affect him."
Another quirk to Oozemaster... you can enter the PrC at ECL 2 if you can cast 3rd level spells.
For the slime hands thing... Warmind -> Sweeping Strike?Last edited by Darrin; 2010-04-29 at 10:25 PM.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
I remember once a build that involved having a Gelatinous cube as a mount.
It wasn't mechanically optimal by any means, but it's an idea that matches the flavor you've got here.
Think about it.If RPG's have taught me anything, it's that all social and economic problems of the world can be solved through murder.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Thrall of Juiblex can summon green slime(apparently, at-will), so it basically wins the ooze prc contest.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
True, but after that you need to Prc out as the rest of class kinda sucks.
I'm not sure the designers knew what they were doing by frontloading the class.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Lolth-Touched (+6 CON) Mongrelfolk (+4) (+1LA)
+1LA / Barbarian 2 (rage +6CON (reckless rage)) / Stoneblessed 3 (Dwarf, +2 CON) / Dwarf Paragon 3 (+2CON) / SlimeLord X / Warshaper 2 (or more, +4 CON)
So by ECL 12 you are working at +20 CON on top of base stats and based on the wording of Warshaper's ability to make extra limbs and the fact Pseudopods turns your hands into 2 natural attacks it may be possible to get 3 pseudopod attacks per full round (or they do 1d8 damage)
Throw in feats like Ability Focus (pseudopods) and the Paralysis DC > 33 by ECL12.
Feat Reckless Rage (+2 Con)
Throw in 1 arcane caster level an take Arcane Focus and Body Awareness for +4 more CON
Steadfast Determination / Sudden Wind to maximize all that CON
For extra fun throw in Vow of Peace and laugh as any weapons shatter instantly against you (since its CON based DC) and you non-lethally paralyze them.
And of course Alter Shape yourself into anything that offers CON-based DC special attacks (troglodyte = sickened)
And if using it as a BBEG or monster, make it a Monstrous Humanoid and throw on Monster of Legend for a further +10 CON (plus monstrous race +CON)Last edited by Benejeseret; 2010-04-30 at 05:11 PM.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Sidenote: is it Jubilex or Juiblex?
I always, always (back from my 1E days) thought it was Jubilex, but all the more recent books say Juiblex. Did it change at some point? My winning competition entries: Kinvig Arrumskor | The Great Pumpkinhead | Wynfrith d'Acker

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Dragonborn would give you another +2 Con. You don't have to stay good.
Mineral Warrior would also give another +4 Con for +1 LA.
You already count as a dwarf, so 2 levels of Deepwarden wouldn't be hard to swing as you can double dip Endurance for Steadfast Determination. You'd have a massive AC with no armor on, which would be a nice leadin for Fist of the Forest to double up on Con to AC.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Craft: Alchemy 4 ranks and Swim 4 ranks can be easily done at 1st level (assuming you can find a casting class with Swim as a class skill).
As far as 3rd level spells, the usual method typically involves Precocious Apprentice plus either Versatile Spell or Sanctum Spell. Focused Specialist or Improved Sigil: Krau can also be thrown in there... or just Lesser Aasimar (can cast daylight 1/day as an arcane spell). Since the Great Fortitude feat is also required, you'd probably have to take some flaws to get everything you need before ECL 2.
Now that I think about it, the Swim requirement may actually be the real sticking point...Handbooks:

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
How do you qualify for the 2 Dwarf-only PrC if you are a mongrelfolk.?
Are you sure of that? There's an oft overlooked sidebar in page 15 of Races of the Dragon, which mentions that if you commit an evil act, Bahamut gives a warning, and if you keep acting evil, you take 2d6 damage per round for a number of round equal to your HD, and you revert back to your original form.Last edited by BenTheJester; 2010-04-30 at 10:31 PM.

Re: [3.5] Slime Lord
Stoneblessed is a PrC in Races of Stone that allows you to qualify as your choice of Dwarf, Gnome, or Goliath for the purposes of selecting feats/PrCs or activating magic items. So, yea, a Stoneblessed Mongrelfolk could be a Dwarf Paragon and be more dwarfy than a dwarf.
Oh, lame. I missed that.
