Looks like Nale inherited his love of overly complicated plans from his mother. Also I think the Empress of Blood is trying to become the size of a dragon that can cast arcane spells rather than age normally.

So .. that settles the alignment debate, at least as far as I'm concerned. Tarquin keeps his commitments (to the Empress) but is willing to conquer a kingdom for his own. Unconcerned about the welfare of others while willing to sacrifice it for his own personal gain.

Ergo, Lawful Evil.

ETA: I would DEARLY love to see the sword fight between Nale and Tarquin fully rendered in the book as a supplement. Can I get a HELL YES?

His father denied him by refusing to give him the crown he wanted. So he's been throwing a temper tantrum ever since.

Seems Elan's dad is evil for buisness reasons at this point rather than evil for being evil. Might have even slipped into Lawfull Neutral (big might). And he is very practical. He and V should get along farily well.
