What's the best way to kit-out a ranger? 3.5 dnd
I was fiddling about with a ranger build the otherday and wondered if there was a bow that was widely acepted as "the bow" to have for a acher build ranger? I created a lvl 14 ranger but any level will do.
Many thanks.

This is pretty much as good as it gets; Power Shot, Force Ammo and yeah. That's what you want. With additional abilities, some of the better ones include:
- Splitting [Champions of Ruin]: +3, doubles the number of attacks you get. Basically a multiplier for your damage.
- Force [Magic Item Compendium]: +2, if you can't get the Energy Bow, this gets you Force-ammo all the same. Basically, ignores all DR, weather issues and such.
- Seeking: +1, ignores all miss chances and such.
- Collision/Holy/Corrosive [Magic Item Compendium]: Solid damage additions, pretty much in the order of reliability. Collision works always, Holy quite often, etc. Given Bows have rather short list for means to augment the damage, and Splitting doubles all damage you get, steady damage additions with maximum applicability are great. Situationals like Bane and such belong on Arrows, on the other hand. If you have access to the +1d6 printing of Screaming, that's solid too.
So yeah, if possible:
Splitting Collision Seeking Energy Bow
Otherwise:
+1 Splitting Force Collision Corrosive Seeking Whateverbow with right amount of Strength (Bow of Winterymoon from Magic Item Compendium also has scaling strength and thus makes for a fine seedsbow)Campaign Journal: Uncovering the Lost World - A Player's Diary in Low-Magic D&D (Latest Update: 8.3.2014)

Speaking of that link, does anybody know where to find this: Beneath the Blade of Sun Mountain?
I grew up watching the old cartoon, and I'd really like to see how they statted out.Custom Melayl avatar by my cousin, ~thejason10, used with his permission. See his work at his Deviant Art page.

It's in the Animated Series Handbook. Which comes in the box set of the cartoon. Along with stats for all the kids, plus their magic items. Venger and Shado Demon are in there too, and I have no idea how a bunch of PCs around 8th level managed to survive a round with him. Let alone keep escaping him.
(I had to get the red box one rather than the black one, for what might be obvious reasons to older gamers.)Last edited by The Big Dice; 2010-05-23 at 08:54 PM.

Seeing as how a Ranger should have goodish wisdom, grab some shapesand (It's Hot Outside) to replace a ton of tools.
