Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
When I made the previous version of the hack (get both fossils), I didn't realize that there was a bit of code that made it so you could only revive "(Dome or Helix) + Amber" I changed it to "Dome + Helix + Amber" in my last patch. So, All three fossils can be revived. And since all of the version exclusives have been added back in, and you can get the other hitmon by breeding, the only Pokemon that you can't get are the other two starters, and the other two Legendary gerbils. And I plan on fixing that eventually. I had a very interesting idea for it, borrowed from "Eternal Darkness," unfortunately, pokemon code doesn't work for what I want to do, and I don't want to learn ASM. So I need to think of a different way of getting them.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
I know, and I feel bad for stopping the project there, and screwing over people (like myself) who like Kabuto more. Luckily, this version is backwards compatible, so you wouldn't even need to start a new game, you can just go to the lab and get the last fossil revived.
Edit for archive bingers and people that aren't following my releases: 1.6.1 is "this version." 1.6.0 is where the project was stalled at for 13 months.Last edited by fizzmaister; 2011-02-06 at 08:27 PM.

Fluttershy in the Playground. I'm okay with this.
Oh yeah, also: Follow me in my current Screenshot LP of Pokémon Liquid Crystal! (Now probably a lost cause, since the original thread is over six months old, if not longer!)

Lucky devil. ...Reminds me of Quxelopqr's (Not entirely sure I spelled that right...) shiny Beautifly right off the bat. Or Illven had a shiny Poochyena that he had no pokeballs left for.
And yeah, I've redone my yellow a million times, and my sapphire a fair number.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
This reminds me of my worse luck, having a friend, who I specifically asked not to restart the game, restart my Sapphire when he was supposed to be helping me figure out what I was supposed to do. Turned out I should have spent a little more time on that underwater rock puzzle, though I'd have been happier to find that out with my over-levelled Sceptile.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
hehe, a friend of mine (not the brightest bulb in the bunch) didn't figure out that he had to to enter the pokemart to continue beyond viridian city. so he just kept training his starter without entering the pokemart. by the time i pointed it out to him (when he told me about it, this was in the red/blue days) he had a charizard...

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
On my first playthrough, I couldn't figure out that I needed to go to the basement of the game corner. Also, I never got past Cinnabar without using the MissingNo glitch on a bunch of rare candies.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
In Silver way back when, I didn't use the "useless" Flash or carry around "useless" Escape Ropes. (Well, I carry the Ropes now)
So, in Dark Cave I truly thought I had gotten stuck in the cave. I'll never know why, upon that "realization," I saved my game, then restarted.
...That was my first Pokemon game.

I remember not knowing what "antidote" meant. It looked like a pokeball, so it must have been the pokemon inside!
I was very confused for a large portion of that game...Awesome Iron Chef avatars by Neoseph7! Murkrow avatar of coolness by Introbulus!Spoiler

In Gold, I somehow got through the first cave without Flash. And I couldn't get back. Nowadays, especially since the Gen III games give you that little orb of light, I don't even need it.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
Chapter 53: Blinded with Science
Spoiler
Well, we've landed. Time to scope this out.
”Wait a second!”
Jewel comes burrowing out of the ground.
“Oh! That’s what I forgot!”
”F-forgot?”
“Well, with the legendary pokemon and the near hypothermia, it sort of slipped my mind. I had a lot on my place… Sorry.”
”…”
“It won’t happen again.”
”Very well; but only because I am a gentlewoman –“
“Adventurer?”
”Quite so!”
Trainer pro-tip #1: talk to everybody.
So this is a building...ruled by wild pokemon... Where mad scientists do crazed experiments?
...
Best. Town-Based. Dungeun. Ever.
Anyway, onto the pokemon center!
...I have... Pokemon?
Sir, I do not think you mean what I think you mean.
So the 'Union Room' is a place where people go to 'Link Up' to people they don't know...
And make new 'friends'...
...
...
Are...you a pimp?
Let me guess where this is going...
Knew it.
So he left the only key to his gym there? Doesn’t seem like good policy to me.
...Of course, if I hear a rumor, it's probably true.
Trainer pro-tip #1 sucks sometimes.
"Yeah. I need more items."
I actually do my shopping.
"Coat. You need one."
Yeah, yeah...
"It should be red."
"No, blue!"
They force me to try on several coats.
"Isn't it interesting... How a humans can just change raiments so easily, that to them, it has no meaning... But even just a coat makes you look very different."
That's because this thing makes me look like the stay-puff marshmallow man fell in a sea of blood.
I end up picking a white coat that's a lot less poofy. But it's still warm enough out that I don't need it.
And living in an unpopulated area is odd?
Anyway, let's look at that lab...
"Like...Maybe a Parasect?"
I can't forget about Mellow. This is my one chance.
Scientist: "I guess so... It's not normally our thing..."
"The mushroom... Could you find a way to make it give up its control over the pokemon's brain?"
"I'm...I'm not sure..."
"Please try."
"Well, I suppose we could, Miss..."
"Seed."
"We'll do our best. Where is the Pokemon?"
I go and fetch her.
"Where are we going?"
"To get rid of you, you monster."
[font="fixedsys"]"W-what!... Didn't we have a lot of fun together?"
"Like what?"
[font="fixedsys"]"Do you remember when I beat things violently for you? And trees. Oh, we laughed."
"You tried to take over my mind!"
"It was an excellent hat."
"It was a parasitic mushroom!"
"...Perhaps so, but it's really for the best."
I hand her to the man.
"FLESHY BETRAYEEEER! DECOMPOSE YOUR EYES FOR NUTRIENTS!"
"Good luck."
I run to the next room.
"Y-you wouldn't!"
"Absolutely not."
I enter the next room, and a man immediately rummages through my bag.
"The heck?"
"I can sense fossils a mile away!"
...That's like the worst super-power.
"Sounds about right."
Perverting the laws of nature? Sure!
"It's less perverting than it sounds."
I mean, I don't normally describe people as 'wierd' in my inner monologue like that, but…
Yeah.
And his English falls apart. I'm now really worried.
I step outside. And then to turn around to make sure he isn't just a guy who stole a lab coat.
I took five seconds!
And then he's in my bag again...
Uh-huh...
I go to meet the Omynite, who I'm calling Trilo.
Level's very low...
"What mannere of quaynte world have I awakened unto?"
"Ummm...The..present?"
"And whence I came, then? Wast that not the present?"
"Well, now that's the past. You were kinda extinct."
"And I am then indentured unto you for your kindness in removing me from that state?"
"Unless you don't want to."
"And leave a human lady undefended? Nay, I am your vassal now, Milady."
"I have quite a few pokemon, but thank you."
Such a momentous occasion. I shall save it for my scrap-book
Well, time for part 3...
Basically.
Yeah, yeah...
...Really? That old man is a Doctor? What's he doing in Lavender town?
"What's thiiis?"
"A pokemon center?"
"At last! After 10,000 years I'm free!"
...Rita Repulsa was a pokemon?
"You're not going to conquer Earth?"
"Tempting, but I got in a little trouble for a while... I just wanted to save Pokemon from being conquered by humans, but it...didn't work out well. I got a knight on my heels... Nah, I'll just lay low a while. Maybe cause some trouble."
"Not too much trouble, please...."
"Fine, fine, fine!"
...Well, that worked better than it would have with Mellow. We’ll see.
And finally...
"Where --"
"Pokemon Center. No longer dead."
"Where is she?"
"She?"
"A horrible wench, who hath intentions as a conqueress. She wreaks of foulness, and even in sleep like death, I have pursued her in my duty. But if she is truly dead... Then I can return to those lovely skies..."
....
This won't end well.
“Well, why don’t you go flying, and we’ll worry about that later?”
Anyway, away from that ticking time bomb, we have the mansion.
And it has some pokemon.
A short little chapter... I've had a stressful week.
So, what should I catch this time?LPs:

Alright, the scientist worked. He's a little ruder than normal, going straight into your bag, but I hope Kabuto is worth the added craziness.
Also, my vote is for Grimer because Muk looks emo, and I want to see how you write emo. I'll probably regret this, but it seems like a good idea now, so there you go.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
lol'd at Power Rangers reference.
The ancient trio do look like they'll be kinda interesting to see the interactions of. Mellow, meanwhile, brings up an interesting philosophical quandary. While she really is quite monstrous, there's a sense that she's not so much doing it out of malice as out of an alien style of priorities defined by her only demonstrated method of reproduction.
And now, Seed is trying to essentially force her into a hibernation in order to revive a being that is probably already dead. Granted, after the success of bringing back Trilo, Chelle, and Draca, that's a bit less of a barb than it would be otherwise, and the being being revived is only 'dead' because of Mellow, but still... kinda fascinating.
I'm gonna vote with Grimer, simply because Koffing disturbs me and Growlithe is overused (plus, you have Azula- what more firepower could you need?).

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
I'm going to vote for Growlithe, since I chose other things earlier only because a Growlithe can be caught here.
Also, what kind of monster has Seed become? Mellow was only helpful, if in a creepy (but endearing) way, and now she's trying to get rid of her. I trust your writing to be entertaining and make the right choices but I have to say Mellow is probably my favourite character, up there with Noriko and, now, Trilo and Chelle. It feels sad to have the possibility of her being killed off.

Re: Behind Every Monster Is a Person in a Cute Costume: Let's Play Moemon Leafgreen!
Mellow's actually one of my favorite characters, too. She's funny and basically writes herself. But I take objection to that "only," which seem to me to be a bad case of fan blinders. Mellow's entertaining, but she'd be offended to hear you say that; everything she's ever said is deadly serious, and she's already effectively committed something not unlike murder. We can discuss Seed's ethics here (and there are a few things in her sense of justice that are legitimately worrying.), but only if you're willing to look at both parties for what they really are, what they want, and what they've done.
