Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Hello!
I've played D&D with my friends, but never online before. I'm hesitant whether to try it, because I don't know how good of a job I would do; I usually need to ask my friends for help regarding which of the dozens of numbers on my character sheet I'm using at any given point, or how to calculate something, or what modifiers I need to look at, etc. I think I'd be a bother to any experienced players online.
I do read Order of the Stick though, and enjoy it. My avatar is of my D&D character, Bogard, who I drew using Inkscape and a tutorial written by David Shaw. He's a human barbarian, not very special, but he's my first (and currently only) character I've ever played as.

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Um, hi GitP people, I'm turtlecash.
I'm 18, male, Canadian, and a university student. I've been reading Order of the Stick for almost a year now and finally caught up to the most recent strip today. (Yay!)
I also just found a way to get into roleplaying recently, although I've been looking for awhile. My best friend plays D&D and lost her group since they all graduated and went to different universities recently, so she asked me to be the first member of the new group that she plans to put together here at our school. I jumped at the opportunity, so now she's helping me learn.
I'm generally a very quiet person, and in real life I'm terrified of meeting new people to the point that I sometimes do things like lock myself in my room or pretend I'm not around in order to to avoid others (I'm still a bit quiet on the internet, but at least I'm not quite as scared of people judging me here). Because I'm like that, I'm glad I finally got a way to try D&D, it sounded really fun.
Nice to meet you all.Last edited by turtlecash; 2010-11-19 at 12:36 AM.

Hi! I've been lurking for a while, and finally decided to give in an make an account. I'm interested in OotS and PBP games. I'm not sure what else to say, except that I like the fact that everyone's happy on this thread.

Interesting how time flies. I see folks 'welcome newbies' and think to myself, 'Aren't you a new... wait, was that over a year ago? Geeze.'

Hi, everyone! I started reading OotS early in the Don't Split the Party era, just decided to join. Never played a tabletop RPG yet, but I plan to, and have played video game RPGs; they're my favorite genre!

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Evening, everyone.
Long-time lurker and reader since...I dunno, guess somewhere around the end of the Battle for Azure City. Wow, that takes me back. Anyway, I've been hiding in the back reading entertaining threads for a while now, so might as well join in the fun.
Seems the thing to do in here is to share your gaming experience as well, so here goes - I've tried to run various 3.5 games, but they tend to fizzle, so I've got the group in a fairly nifty Deadlands campaign that's turning out nicely so far. Hmmm...what else...
Err...great to be here!

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Greetings, and well met, everyone!
My name is Michael, 31, and I am a big Forgotten Realms fan. I would like to eventually try and start up 3.5 FR game, chat based probably as its easiest (or maptools/gametable if I can get the hang of those *sigh*) and have some fun getting into some role playing in the realms. A 1st level campaign set in Unther, or one in the Moonshaes, is what I am geared towards DMing. However, finding local players for a pen 'n' paper game has, so far at least, been difficult. The online community may be the best way to go .
I have dabbled in D&D since the early 90's, and have been interested ever since. I've DM'ed occasionaly, but most often been a player.

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Greetings all,
My name isn't really wraith808, but it will do for now. I've been playing RPGs for several years, and following OOTS for a few. Currently I'm playing 4e and Amber (or an Amber derivative). I must say that you have a very stringent membership requirement- the infuriating verification image that randomly decides when you guess the right letters is a nice touch, especially when you have to type several fields over each time you're wrong.
But... umm... glad to be here!

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Hello to GitP Forums.
After about three months of lurking, I decided to motivate myself enough to actually become a member here. I hope I can make the most out of the time I spend here.
As for the comic, my favorite characters would have to be Redcloak and Malack. And the Death Knight.Last edited by DZ-Battra; 2010-11-22 at 09:13 PM.
Hey, it's not my fault everyone else limits themselves to four elements. Some of us got passing grades in Chem.

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
We only used to get a spammer maybe once or twice a year, if that, and don't think any since they added the 'name that OotS character' part, so annoying or not, it works.
Trolls, malcontents and fake suicides still make their way in from time to time, but I try to keep a low profile.Last edited by The Vorpal Tribble; 2010-11-23 at 04:48 PM.

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Hi everyone!
My name is Timeless Error. I play and love D&D 3.5 (class balance issues aside), I'm a zealous fan of the Order of the Stick (even though I've only been reading it for a few days and I've only reached number 585), and my user name came into being when I was playing a Githzerai Ranger named "Timeless Arrow" and the party Wizard "accidentally" misspoke.
I've been quietly browsing this site for a month or two, especially the homebrew section, and I finally decided to sign up.
T.E.

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Hi everyone!
I'm not a true rpg player, but quite fond of whatever treats about fantasy worlds, and good comics. I've been following the adventures of the OotS for about a year with always a big smile at each new release. I've found the will to register in due to last developpments in the story. Not sure I will post many things, but I'm sure I won't quit before I see the end of it

Re: Hello and Welcome New Members Thread 8
Hey, I'm Warrior/Mage.
I don't really play D&D, but Imma big fan of Rich's work, and the fact that it encourages me to try and 'get' some of the jokes, with the help of the Wikipedia, based on D&D is a commendation indeed.
I like RPGs, but dabble in just about any kinda game. Except shooters, as I forget how to duck, and Racers.
I don't use the brake
