Re: Benefits of the Shapechanger Subtype
you gain access to the Transformation Domain which gives a cleric tons of polymorph shenanigans
you can also get into a few good prestige classes

Re: Benefits of the Shapechanger Subtype
Not much. It gives you proficiency with all natural weapons and simple weapons. It largely seems to be a holdover from 3rd Edition, where Shapechanger was a type, rather than a subtype, with all that entails, which the Shapeshifter class also gained it at 10th level.
I use black for sarcasm.
Call me Rose, or The Rose Dragon. Rose Dragon is someone else entirely.
If you need me for something, please PM me about it. I am having difficulty keeping track of all my obligations.

Re: Benefits of the Shapechanger Subtype
Be sure you finish reading the Evershifting Form class feature at the top of the next page. Typically that type of benefit is given when a prestige class changes your type to an Outsider, but in this case it's due to a supernatural control over your own form rather than ascending to an otherworldly nature. Furthermore, immunity to Transmutations can be extremely beneficial, especially considering spell-like abilities and even supernatural abilities of some creatures which emulate Transmutation spells will likewise be ineffective against your character.
