[3.5/PF] Custom Magic Item: Walkie Talkie
So in my upcoming PF game, we are all going to be forced into working together, sort of a geas type thing. we are supposed to be a sort of commando raid type party, so communication is paramount. My DM asked if i can help make a magic item that would do this. Think the radios that special forces get, encrypted, with an earpiece and throat mike so you can be silent and still communicate. I can easily create the item, so determining cost, and the like are nonessential, but what spells would I use?

Re: [3.5/PF] Custom Magic Item: Walkie Talkie
Use-activated CL1 item of message, priced using DMG guidelines: 1500gp. Command word would cost 900.
Only lets you send your message to one person (at a time) within 110 feet, though.Last edited by Siosilvar; 2010-06-25 at 09:39 PM. Reason: pricing fixed on command word

Re: [3.5/PF] Custom Magic Item: Walkie Talkie
All good suggestions, and I have to look up that earring, but so far I think a re-flavoured ring of communication would work best, multiple recipients, and i can sub it into a non-body slot item if I have to.
Edit: Just looked up the earring, and it is perfect. I was afraid it was only 2 people, but it said that multiple earrings could all be attuned, so that would work perfectly.Last edited by bartman; 2010-06-25 at 09:45 PM.

Re: [3.5/PF] Custom Magic Item: Walkie Talkie
It can still get dispelled by enemy spellcasters. In fact, if you cast it at say level 9, by the time you play to level 13, any enemy spellcaster could pretty much autopass the dispel check. (He's going to be higher than the average party level by 2 levels or more, making him 6 levels higher than when the spell was cast).
So you're safe until you meet an enemy wizard who's into dispelling as a debuff, or a dispel magic trap (who needs a fireball trap, dispel magic is same cost, but far more effective)
