Default [Exalted 2e] Is this charm too powerful?

    Basically the thread title.

    Is this charm too good?

    Spoiler
    Show
    The Sun's Light Permeates All.
Cost: +10/+15/+20m. Mins: Occult 5, Lore 5, Essence 4. Type: Permanent.
    Keywords: None.
    Duration: Instant
    Prerequisite Charms: All-Encompassing Sorcerers Sight.

The glorious light of the Unconquered Sun is not so easily turned aside by such material concerns as the mere terrain of creation. Even in the deepest places of the world does it reach.

This charm allows the Sorcerer who possesses it to work spells that require sunlight (or just normal light) even when deep underground, provided that it is daytime above the surface, they are still within Creation, and that they are not within the boundaries of a Shadowland.

The spell costs additional motes, based on the Circle of Sorcery it belongs to. +10 motes for the Terrestrial, +15 for the Celestial, and +20 for the Solar Circle.

It's my first homebrew charm, so any feedback would be nice.

it's not overpowered per se, Solars have seen weirder things, and the ability to emulate the sunlight is right within the Solar's schtick.
That said, I'd do it a bit differently:

since you already tie this charm to Lore, there's a nice little Lore charm that makes you store extra "Solar energy": Immanent Solar Glory.
    Which gives:

    The Sun's Light Permeates All.
Cost: Special Mins: Occult 5, Lore 5, Essence 4.
    Type: Permanent.
    Keywords: Obvious
    Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: All-Encompassing Sorcerers Sight, Immanent Solar Glory

A righteous Solar Exalted is not unlike an extension of the will and eyes of Sol Invictus himself, illuminating the world of the radiance of the sun.
When the Solar works a spell requiring sunlight (or any light at all), he can reflexively empty his extra Essence reserve gained by Immanent Solar Glory to overcome this requirement, provided the Solar is still within Creation and that it is daytime (for the purpose of this charm, a shadowland counts at not-Creation, even by daytime). This charm activation is an explicite exception to the general rule of not being able to take voluntary reflexive actions while Shaping Sorcery.
The Solar cannot activate this charm his the Essence reserve gained from Immanent Solar Glory is already empty

what do you think of it? (the Obvious Keyword isn't really a problem here, it only shows when you activate the charm, and at that time, you'll be working Sorcery anyway ...)

It is jarring to require two ability prerequisites for a Charm. There is a precedent, but it is also jarring, so it's not really any better.

Why not just use Rising Sun Spirit? Turns your anima into all-natural sunlight.
I no longer actively read the forums, and probably won't respond to any PMs. I'm fine with people using my homebrew in anything, including fan-compilations and wikis, as long as you credit me.

    Homebrew by The Demented One.

Well, your wording of the stipulations does make it clearer. But Immanent Solar Glory might be a problem. It's unlikely the Player this is made for will be able to use the charm very often because they won't have a hand in running things for a while yet. And once they do, it's unlikely that he'll go underground much.

So all it would do is restrict him to one or two castings underground. Though he shouldn't need many.

I think on it some more.

Glories of the Most High: the Unconquered Sun.

Get it now, if only for the new Solar Circle spells and the prayer pieces.

I'm sorry, which spells require real daylight?

Well, some require light, and get bonuses from daylight/starlight/moonlight. And this is a solar charm.
