[3.5] Most spells / day?
Does anyone know a build that grants you an insanely high amount of spells per day? They don't have to be on-par with level, as the character it's meant for doesn't need to be very powerful mechanically, but I wonder what's the highest achievable amount.
In this, I mean only spells and not at-wills like eldritch blast, but I'm also interested: what classes are there that grant abilities akin to the warlock's one?
All info appreciated in advanceLast edited by Thieves; 2010-07-15 at 09:36 AM.

Huh! Always wondered what it's for, and now it also fits perfectly with how mad this guy's supposed to be. Will look up.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
Nonononononono!! I imagine my queries evoke the urge to get rid of them quick, but Taint won't solve all. It's meant for a PC, and while yes, "irresistible murder urges", as I'm now reading, somehow fit in, but I'd want it to be reasonably playable. Plus, I don't know if I'm allowed to bring in a whole new different system to the table just to boost my spellslinging...
Maybe some classic X / Y / Z stuff? Something most (i.e., my cloistered DM) would be familiar with.
Also... I don't think I understand what's the effect of taint on spell slots. Meaning that when you accumulate hell-loads of taint, your spellcasting stat is so high it grants you huge amounts of bonus spells? But can it be done without dying? So, huh? (Sorry, been reading it for only 5 minutes.)

Ever hear the one about Arcane Thesis and the Invisible Sanctum Repeat Mage's Lucubration? Once you hit 12th level, you have unlimited ability to recharge your spells of 5th level and lower after each encounter.
Fromage, anyone?.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
Specifically, Tainted Scholar (HoH) bases spellcasting on Taint score, which can be infinite if they are Necropolitan, since they no longer care about constitution penalties, and generate taint from spellcasting.
Ah, less cheeese. Fair enough.
I recommend a wizard4/Beguiler1 (or warmage, but beguiler is the classic choice)/Ultimate Magus 10/???? 5
Two casting classes, both based on intelligence, which leaves you a lot of SAD. Double advancement by UM, and good spell selection.
If you care less about stronger spells, switching beguiler for Duskblade would also be interesting, since Duskblades get a LOT of spells per day (10 1'st level spells/day at level 20)

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
If you mean classes with a whole bunch on innate "at-will" type abilities - Dragonfire Adept, Binder and Incarnate all have a fairly extensive repertoire.
EDIT: If you don't have HoH (and thus Tainted Scholar), you can still make use of the Tainted Sorcerer and Subverted Psion.Last edited by Optimystik; 2010-07-15 at 09:57 AM.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
As sticky as fondue, I'd say.
All great contributions, thanks! These so far are arcanes only; how about ways to max both arcane-divine slots? Any wizard/archivist synergies? Or, is there a way to put your divine spells into arcane spell slots?
The real reason behind this is that I'd want to play something keeping the flavor of MT, which I love, and substituting its inefficiency, which I detest.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
You know, there is still the Mystic Theurge. Yes, a MT casts spells that are either 1 or 2 levels lower than a simple wizard or cleric, but they do still get a lot of spells. Quantity over quality.
Alternatively, there's the focused specialist. They give up an extra school and one spell per day per level, but gain two more spells per day per level from their specialist school (three total, ie. at first level, instead of having one 1st level spell slot + bonus slots for a high INT, you get zero general 1st level spell slots, a bonus slot or two from high INT, and three specialist spell slots). Quantity over versatility.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
hmmm isn't there some crazy bard+Ur-priest+Sublime Chord+MT build?
I don't remember the specifics of it, but I think it used the savage bard alt from UA to get into Ur-priest early-ish, then sublime chord and used MT to advance Ur-priest and SC progression.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
I have a question, if you cast Plane Shift and sit in a realm with a different time say for instance a faster time. Can you walk into another plane rest and prepare your spells and walk about out, when your allies only remember you being gone for one round you've actually been on the other plane for 8+ hours?

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
Elf racial sub Domain wizard is a lot cheaper and gets almost as many extra spells. And you don't have to pick all those forbidden schools.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
Does anyone have more info / link to this build?
Where is this from?
Cheese (Sp): A ray of Godda, minmaxaler or optimizatiola (caster's choice) clogs and covers the subjects's face with a hot, sticky layer of cheesy goodness. The subject suffers a -4 penalty to Will and Sense Motive checks to retain his temper and cannot laugh for 2d4 rounds. However, the target receives a +1 bonus to Will and Sense Motive checks for every point of taint it has (the effect may end up as positive). This ability is treated as being of the Illusion spell school for purposes of being resisted with a Will save (DC 25) to disbelieve the fun and usefulness of the ability.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
Ah... it's one way to get double-9th casting (Arcane / Divine) by 18th, but it's not what you're looking for, as both the "base" classes used have reduced spells-per-day. The build ends up having about as many spells per day as a standard Cleric. If you roll well on stats.
But the simple build for it is Savage Bard-8 (Arcana Unearthed)/Ur-Priest-2 (Complete Divine)/Sublime Chord-2 (Complete Arcane)/Mystic Theurge-8 (Core).Last edited by Jack_Simth; 2010-07-15 at 07:52 PM.
Of course, by the time I finish this post, it will already be obsolete. C'est la vie.

Re: [3.5] Most spells / day?
The elven generalist is an ACF in RotW that lets an Elven Wizard add an extra spell to their book each level and cast one additional spell per day at their highest spell level.
The Domain Wizard is a variant from UA, but it is in the SRD. It gives an extra spell per day, but from a fixed list, like cleric domains. The lists are fairly limited. The Conjuration and Transmutation domains are probably the only ones with useful spells at enough levels to be worthwhile.
