    Default Rules and their numbering

Something that struck me. I have heard the term "rule 0" get thrown around quite a bit in relation to RPGs. What I've not had a conclusive answer to is what it reads is.

I've heard that rule 0 is "The GM is in charge", but I've also seen it stated as "Have fun", and "If you don't like it, change it". So what is the deal there?

Also, are there further rules given numbers that people in the scene generally knows?

rule -1 is "just have fun"
rule 0 is "the GM can change the rules if he wants to (but it doesn't mean he has to)"

Rule 0 means GM > anything.

As far as I know that's it.

    Having fun isn't a rule, it's the goal. That's why you're playing a game.

Rule 0 is a concept. It isn't actually any one thing in particular. The phrase "Rule 0" is coined to insinuate a rule above all other rules that takes precedent and frequently doesn't need to be spoken.

For D&D, it's TYPICALLY the GM is right, but some people prefer "have fun".

The point though, is that the rule shouldn't NEED to be mentioned, it should be obvious. It actually applies to more than tabletop gaming.
