    Default PrCs for bards?(3.5)

Hi all, the title kind of says it im looking for some PrCs for bards in DnD 3.5. If you have any suggestions please tell me the book and the name of the prestige class.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. Not looking to optimize just looking for fun alternatives to straight bard

    Lyric Thaumaturge, so hard.

With some minor prerequisites that can easily be picked up with straight Bard20, you continue your Bardic Music uses/day, and add on additional spell known (from the Sorcerer/Wizard list, which is SWEET) and per day! You don't get the other random Inspire abilities of the Bard, but let's face it, the only Inspire that Bards need is Inspire Courage. And you don't even need to advance Inspire Courage, because you should be getting most of the IC boosts from other sources anyways.

    From Complete Mage.

Specifically, all the prerequisites for Lyric Thaumaturge are things you'd WANT to pick up as a Bard. Knowledge (arcana) lets you identify a lot of the nasty creatures you meet (in addition to powering the awesome Artificer's Monocle item for free Identify spells), Perform should be maxed out for you anyways, and Spellcraft lets you know exactly what spells are getting thrown at you, which is the first step to living through/beating them. You'll need the feat Melodic Casting, but you're taking this feat anyways because it lets you substitute Perform checks for Concentration checks (!!!) and lets you cast spells while using Bardic music (even more !!!). Finally, you need to be able to cast 2nd level spells and have Bardic Music 5/day, but since you're straight Bard, you already have these.

The class loses 0 levels of spellcasting and Bardic Music/day, gains 1 spell slot for each level (1-6), teaches you 1 additional spell for each level off of the Sorcerer/Wizard list, and throws in the random occasionally-useless Captivating Melody feat in there for the sheer heck of it.
Intelligence is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put tomato in fruit salad. Charisma is convincing someone it's a good idea anyways.

Dawncaller (races of stone) is one of my favourite ones, just a bit quirky and unknown :) There's another one in RoS as well, Divine Prankster?

Dirge Singer-Libris Mortis: its a bard that can affect undead with their bardic music

one of their abilities allows them to use their bardic music to animate a recently deceased corpse...and can keep it animated as long as the character keeps concentrating...that's an awesome musical ability with so much potential for good role-playing

Prestige paladin (Unearthed Arcanna) enter-able at 6th(?) level (AFB)

You'd have to use the alternate class: Divine bard

    Provides full BAB
Good Fort save to supplement the one bad save for bards
Charisma is a good stat for both classes

This is a cool, but I can think of one more: Bard actually can take advantage of some (not all) PrCs for other Arcane Casters. For instance, Bard can qualify for Suel Archanamach and Sandshaper

Sublime Chord is the uber-caster bard prestige class, giving them access to 9th level spell casting. Since it's technically a separate casting class from bard, you can even advance it with another PrC like Virtuoso, for extra class abilities (if you don't like Sublime Chords, which are just okay).

Suel Arcanamach isn't really for casters so much as it's for becoming a caster.

Dirgesinger isn't very good, but can work wonders when you're in an E6 campaign and can pick up Requiem at 5th. Dropping Inspire Courage and the debuff in the first turn of combat swings the odds greatly in your party's favour.

You can also, in regular play, use a Harmonizing weapon to keep your song going for you, so you can do stuff without wasting actions on your undead.
