i've seen a "lesser orb of force" mentioned on the boards here but despite my efforts i cannot Google up a source, official or third party, for this spell.

if anybody can link me or inform where i can find a printed version i'd appreciate it.

There isn't one AFAIK. It's just an extrapolation that people like to assume exists.

Thrice has got it wrong: I've checked both Complete Arcane and Spell Compendium and there is only the Orb of Force, not a lesser version.

The problem with that is that it is flat out more powerful than any of the other lesser orbs of X.

Ugh, you're right. I was too lazy to check up on the others, just remembering that acid is D8. Frankly, I prefer it simply to not exist, you already have MM for your easy force needs in level 1 slots.

I figured as much, that being both why I dislike the orbs on general principle and why I don't need a force one to exist in my games.

fair enough, but when your playing a blaster caster any edge you can get is a good idea.
