Perception 25
Spoiler
Not far to the north where you think the Eladrin is, you hear a brief splash. Then nothing.
The harpy rises up and flies into the middle of the clearing, both Travok and KT manage to land blows on her but they have no effect. She then lands and opens her mouth to scream, the noise effecting everyone but KT. The harpy screams again, blowing Rythnel and Arthur back before falling to the ground, dead at last.

Blind pursuit into the enemies choice of terrain would not be the best strategic plan. I suggest we regroup ourselves and make haste away from this area. The dead.. or undead.. cannot make this healthy

Re: [4E] Tomb of Horrors IC
You continue along the road for a few more hours, well past the middle of the day. The trees continue to grow close by the roadside, with here and their gaps like the one you met the dryads and harpies in. It's getting towards sunset when you see something strange lying right across the road: a broken and partly burnt piece of wood. Not a log or part of a tree, but cut clean as if it had been part of a cart.
Perception 15
SpoilerOff to the side of the road, in another clearing, you can see that there's more burnt and broken wood as well as well as what looks like the remains of bodies.

Re: [4E] Tomb of Horrors IC
When you enter the clearing you see what it, undoubtedly, the remains of a caravan heading south to the village. There's about two carts and the bodies of a few merchants and what look to be guards. From the looks of the bodies (and the smell!) the attack was rather recent.
The site is littered with arrows, but a few of the bodies bear cuts as if attacked with a blade. Whatever attacked them made off with whatever was valuable.
Nature 15
SpoilerFortunately it has not rained, a series of tracks lead away from the site of the attack, through the clearing and into the forest.
Nature 20
SpoilerWhoever made these tracks has hooves, cloven through the middle like that you might see on a cow or goat...or satyr or devil...

Arthur
"Oh, Pelor..." Arthur gasps, as he looks upon the site. He looks about at all the destruction, and begins to look to see if there's anything he can do for any of the bodies lying around, although in his heart, he knows they're too late.

Arthur
Arthur sighed. "Whatever's been preying on these caravans is probably long gone. But we'll have to follow their trail, especially if we want to prevent this happening again." He began to follow the trail left by the cloven hooved creatures.

Re: [4E] Tomb of Horrors IC
You follow the tracks into the forest, they seem to break off now and again but itt's not hard to pick up the trail. As you follow them the sounds of the forst begin to shift around you, subtler at first but then with increasing intensity. You can almost hear words in the songs of the birds and whispers in the rusling leaves of the trees.
You come to another clearing where a number of trees grow together in a single clump, as if to shun the company of the trees encircling them. Their brances cross and meld overhead, forming a perfect arch, wide enough for two horses to pass through. And it is in front of this arch that the tracks end.
Arcana, Religion or Nature 16
SpoilerThere's magic here, you can sense it. The arch of the branches sways gently as though touched by a breeze, but no wind blows past you. The forest is clear, but when you peer through the arch the trees are faintly obscured by a thin yet pervasive mist. And here and there you can see a flicker of colour, a brilliant emerald green.
Surely, what lies through the arch or branches is another location--perhaps even another world.

Rynthel examines the archway, feeling out the arcane currents in the air, and frowns.
"It's some kind of portal. I don't know where it might go, but it's a portal. We could try to follow, although the idea of blindly stepping through a portal when I don't know the destination strikes me as a bad idea."Last edited by Nai_Calus; 2010-11-19 at 02:03 PM.

The metal man nods in agreement. "The ones we are pursueing have used this portal, it is only logical that in order to find them we would have to follow. We should prepare our weapons first, in case they are awaiting us. This unit will venture in first when we are prepared."

RE: [4E] Tomb of Horrors IC
You feel a sudden lurch, as though you were falling, but the feeling passes even as you find yourself tensing up. You're standing on a narrow trail, which runs through thick grass. The air is full of the scent of greenery. Trees loom over you, with vines and heavy foliage strung between them.
Everything seems clearer, colours are brighter, sounds are sharper and your surroundings look more real.
Nature, Arcana, Religion 15 (Rythnel has a +2 bonus)
SpoilerYou've heard of this effect before, perhaps even experienced it. There's no doubt about it. You're no longer in the realm of mortals at all, but stand now in the Feywild.
Rythnel
SpoilerThe energy you feel around you is echoed within you from deep inside. You feel as if you've come home.Last edited by Katana_Geldar; 2010-11-21 at 03:06 PM. Reason: Title
