    Default [3.5]Gaze Archon [P.E.A.C.H]


    This is not a Gaze Archon. This is Scott Summers (a.k.a. Cyclops) from the X-Men; but you get the idea...

    Hit Dice: 15d8+45 (112 hp).
    Speed: 30 ft. (6 Squares); (60ft. Fly Speed (Perfect Maneuverability))
    Initiative: +5
    Armor Class: 27 (+2 Dexterity, +6 Natural, +9 Deflection)
    BAB/Grapple: +15/+20
    Attack: +3 Holy Long sword +23 melee (1d8 + 8 plus 2d6 holy/17-20) or Slam +20 melee (1d10 + 5)
    Full-Attack: +3 Holy Long sword +23/+18/+13 melee (1d8 + 8 plus 2d6 holy/19-20)
    Space: 5 ft; Reach: 5ft
    Special Attacks: Gaze of Brilliance, Gaze of Majesty, Spell-like Abilities

    This being appears to be an extremely well-groomed man wearing fine regal robes. He floats 6 inches above the ground and seems to radiate an aura of good and peace. The creature’s eyes seem strange and it is very difficult to look the being straight in the eye.

    When in combat a gaze archon prefers to deal with the situation quickly, attempting to annihilate the foe quickly by unleashing its brilliant gaze in the first one or two rounds of combat. If this is unsuccessful it will usually resort to using its long sword.

    A gaze archon’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as good-aligned and lawful-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.

    Gaze of Brilliance (Su): The eyes of a Gaze Archon are no the windows to his soul, they are the doors and the archon can open those doors releasing a font of divine power. As a standard action that does not provoke an attack or opportunity, the archon can fire a beam of power that deals 15d6 divine damage to all creatures in a line extending 60ft. Creatures that succeed on a reflex save (DC 24) take only half damage. This save is charisma based.

    Gaze of Majesty (Ex): Through the eyes of a gaze archon, a creature can see the infinite purity and majesty of the archons soul. The gaze of majesty extends out to 30ft. creatures who fail their will saves are fascinated for as long as the archon continues to maintain the gaze. During the use of this ability the archon can make no actions except to maintain the gaze and any action immediately cancels the effect.

    Unearthly Grace (Su): A gaze archon adds his charisma modifier to his saving throws as a resistance bonus and to his armor class as a deflection modifier.

    Spell-Like Abilities:
    At will: Detect Evil, Discern Lies, Detect Magic, Continual Flame, Message. Caster level 15th.
    3/day: Dispel Magic, Remove Disease, Remove Curse, Cure Critical Wounds, Restoration. Caster Level 15th
    1/day: Heal. Caster Level 15th


    OK, second attempt at a homebrewed monster. This one is probably worse as it is more complicated than the last. Also, I wasn't sure as to what the appropriate CR would be. Any suggestions?

    Adding in which ability score the Gaze of Brilliance DC is based on would be nice.
    Specify that the Cha to Saves is a Resistance Bonus (the AC part remains Deflection of course).

    Hit-Dice should be "15d8+45 (112 hp)"

    CR 15 is looking like a good guess... almost certainly not higher than that.
