Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I find that the effectiveness of the spy is directly proportional to the number of engineers, snipers, and heavies on the other team and inversely proportional to to the number of spies on your team. Also, some maps are really lousy for spies. Nucleus, for example, is so open that there is virtually nowhere to hide.
What do you think?

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Yeah, too much of one class tends to be worse for the team because you lose balance and other strengths from other classes.
However, Nucleus I find is at least a decent map for spy. Mainly due the multiple levels and the fact that it's a giant ring. Gives plenty of places to escape and come from a different direction.

We didn't forfeit.
Instead, we won at everything.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
We did scarily well. It was amazing.
Though I have to say it helped that the enemy medic usually didn't wait until there were teammates to heal before he left spawn.
Also, Dustbowl is totally different if there aren't 4 Engis on RED."I don't approve of society, so I try not to participate in it."

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I recorded demos, got screenshots and have uploaded the results to ETF2L.
The game was great fun, all of Yellow played really well. And the NGs were excellent opponents.
Oh, and if you want to leave them any messages feel free to do that here.Last edited by Dread Cthulhu; 2010-09-26 at 03:18 PM.
SpoilerOn behalf of YoSaffBridge, a collected gent who also hails from the UK, I would like to apologize for the time (times?) he told your lovely children that they were possessed by El Diablo. He has his own issues to work out, and occasionally suffers from the honest delusion that small children are demons. Plus, he’s a bastard. I guess that’s not really an excuse, but I did say these would be sincere.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Yeah, I recorded too.
My favourite bits where where I came in the top 3, killed an engie by jumping on his sentry and shot stuff with a shot gun. Ooh, and the bit on dustbowl third stage where my sentry kicked ass.
My least favourite bits were where everyone had cooler UIs than me, my mic wouldn't work, I couldn't change my loadout and when we almost forfeited.Last edited by Etcetera; 2010-09-26 at 03:18 PM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Hey no, playing the blame game would be silly.
But if you have to blame anyone, I did tell NeoVid explicitly that he wouldn't be needed just before the game. And I forgot that Byrnbot said he would be a little late.
Also, we don't upload the demos. We need to keep them for two weeks in case any accusations come up. I'm almost certain they won't, but if we don't have them we're punished for it.Last edited by Dread Cthulhu; 2010-09-26 at 03:32 PM.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Congratulations on your VICTOLY, Team Yellow!
By the way, how did the spies do? I noticed that on some of the scoreboards, the Yellow spy was in the lead. How good was the enemy spy?

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
The enemy Spy got me a couple of times, but he wasn't too much of a threat. I didn't hear anyone cursing him over the mic.
Whereas Kainozzo was good to a ridonkulous degree. I was spectating him on Upward when he stopped about four people capping the point.SpoilerOn behalf of YoSaffBridge, a collected gent who also hails from the UK, I would like to apologize for the time (times?) he told your lovely children that they were possessed by El Diablo.
