I remember looking at that and thinking that it would just be better to take a regular scout and put him on a mount. Is there any appeal to the variant?

I'm fairly sure you can't use regular Skirmish on a mount. It's dumb, but true.

I just reread the Skirmish ability, and I fail to see why not.

Because Wizards doesn't like giving mundanes nice things. It might be in an Errata, but I'm fairly sure I've read it somewhere.

Yep, it's in the errata. Thanks for the heads up, I might have tried it someday otherwise.

Well, I'd hope that a reasonable DM could be convinced that it's not OP to allow, as it isn't. Really, a dumb idea by Wizards.
