Purpose of the Sandwich Trick
As outlined here, the purpose of the sandwich trick appears to be a polymorph effect with all the benefits, without worry of it being dispelled. Am I correct in this line of thought?
"I live apart from you
But I know the things you do
No angel can save you, how?
You don't need a god, 'cause I'm here now."

Re: Purpose of the Sandwich Trick
I think the real purpose is to be a sandwich. I've never seen it declared as having any sort of optimization goal except the self-explanatory state of sandwichosity.

Re: Purpose of the Sandwich Trick
But can the trick be dispelled? The idea is entry into Beholder Mage that retains class features even if you leave behind the beholder form :P I've done it before, but it was back in the day when T_G and RT were regulars on 339...and sadly my memory is the second thing that went :P (can't remember the first)

Re: Purpose of the Sandwich Trick
Well, it's permanent unless dispelling mindswitch while there is no original body somehow works.
Indeed, I was certain the only reason to do it was to become the most dangerous sandwich in existence.

Re: Purpose of the Sandwich Trick
That's a bit of a big fish / small pond scenario you got going there.
So you never have to interrupt a game to look up a rule again:

TOGC's 3.5e Spell/etc Cards: rpgnow / drivethru rpg

Re: Purpose of the Sandwich Trick
The entire purpose of the Sandwich Trick is to be able to fly around as a dali product of mass destruction, a bit like the otherworldly hams from that episode of I am Weasel. There is no practical purpose to becoming a sandwich (or floating ham), it just serves as being totally awesome.
Picture, if you will, a group of adventurers entering the psion's dining hall, and there is a single untouched sandwich on the table. Naturally they assume it is notimg more than an abandoned snack, and one of them goes to eat it.
The adventurer picks up the sandwich and moves to take a bite out of it.
The adventurer's head explodes. The body falls to the ground, leaving the sandwich hovering in mid-air.
The sandwich then turns ominously towards the rest of the party.
Mass brick defecation ensues.
