    Default Gildar (3.5 Race)

    ~The Gildar~

Legendary trades people who become adventurers even more rarely than the other races. Hiding among the other races in the urban areas where they practice their trade, they are the best of their area, at the expense of major losses in other areas.

    ~Personality~

"A king without an army is a pushover, an army without weapons is useless, and weapons without tradesmen do not exist!" - Guildmaster Supreme VII

The Gildar unlike other races rarely if ever wish to be "at the top" with the nobles, and legendary heroes. They prefer to simply practice their crafts and professions in order to ensure that said people can accomplish their goals. They know their influence is great and if they are slighted, they will often devastate an area by removing key pieces of it during times of need (e.g shutting down all their farms when famine arrives).

    ~Physical~

The Gildar lack strength, speed, and endurance that other races lack in terms of battle. Their movement is not clumsy per say, they tend to simply lack such training. You will rarely see a Gildar will huge muscles, however they make up with weak bodies with skilled natures. An Orc may be able to chop down the tree in terms of brute strength faster, but a Gildar lumberjack knows the exact way to take it down the easiest.

    ~Relations~

The +6 racial bonus to diplomacy speaks for itself. With the exception of people who are afraid of their trade skills, almost everyone loves them.

    ~Alignment~

All over the board. One Gildar can be an exalted being who donates their excess cash to charity, while another is running a slave trade inside the exact same city. They do however tend to be lawful in nature, due to their tendencies to join and form guilds.

    ~Racial Traits~

+6 racial bonus to diplomacy checks
+6 bonus to profession or craft checks (picked at creation, they are masters of trade but not even the Gildar can master every area of the economy).
+5 bonus to random event rolls on the business table in the DMG2 book.
+1 bonus to rank in organizations (PHB2)

Super Trader: If a feat based around profession, craft, and/or the economy (e.g Mercantile Background). A Gildar can ignore all race, background, and gender based requirements, they still have to meet all other requirements however.

Dm note: The Gildar are not meant to be a PC race, rather they make better plot devices. As stated, a slighted guild of Gildar are often so productive that the removal of their production can devastate an area. Their Guild-like, and trade mastery also makes them key players and advisers in evil armies and underground organizations.

If they are not meant to be a Player race, you may consider presenting them as a Monster and not a Race.

Vorpal Tribble's got a good guide on how to build a Monster, and a good template for presentation.

As it stands it's not very interesting. It's more or less a society and not a race. By reading your entry we get a small number crunch, and a not very detailed description of the Race itself. What do they look like, where do they life, what gods do they worship, what do Elves think of them, what Type/Subtype are they, Landspeed, Languages?
    Are Gildar mamals?
Do they live near the Sea?

If it is more like a nation of peoples, perhaps it's better as a feat (and some toned down bonuses.)
Perhaps a Template to be applied to Dwarves, Humans, Elves, and Gnomes?

Without details no one can really critique it you see.
Come with me, time out of mind...

The Giildar really read more like a trade association or Masonic society, rather than a race. If you really intend it to represent an inborn talent for craftsmanship and trade, consider creating it as a +0 CR template that can be applied to any race whose members gather in societies.
