What dose weapon X look like?
Ok so I’m trying to draw out my homebrew weapons to help explain them better, but two of them are magical versions of the Elven Curve Blade which google seems to be sadly lacking images of. the description says it is a "longer but thinner scimitar" but again that doesn’t help very much. Anyone have any guess as to what an Elven curve blade looks like? Images if you can.
and just so this thread isn’t a total waste of time, feel free to ask what other weapons may look like. Never know, could wind up completely different from what you once thoughtAvy by Thormag

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
I dig that sword.
However, I have like 3 weapons that I have no clue what they'd look like.
1. Spinning Sword
2. Mind Blade (I think the D&D version looks like crap)
3. Executioner's Sword

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
And this?
Executioner swords in late medieval and Renaissance were generally large, cleaver like blade, optimized for only one thing - single, most certain and effortless swing to sever the neck.
That is actually pretty close to historically correct.
Considering that it seems to be actual German sword, it would be hard to be "more correct"Last edited by Spiryt; 2010-11-04 at 09:42 AM.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
1. Spinning Sword is just a DnD-ish name for Urumi, if you look inside Secrets of Sarlona pg 136 you'll see a picture of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urumi
2. Mind blades are actually whatever you want them to be, they even need not be "blades".
3. What makes a sword an exectioners sword is the balance, since it's actually more balanced to simulate an axe-- to sunder the spine and neck muscles/tendons.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
It is a chain with a minimum of one spike on it. It is long enough that it can, if wielded by an ordinary human, reach someone 10 feet away. Beyond that, it looks however you want it to.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
I think in Dragon magazine itself there were some slightly more toned-down pics- where the ball of the mace wasn't as big as the wielder's head- but those pics are not on the Paizo gallery site.
This Elder Evils pic:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/i...266239&s=books
has a different-looking mace, despite the fact that in the book Kyuss (a weaker opponent than the Dragon version) has no mace at all.Last edited by hamishspence; 2010-11-04 at 06:37 PM.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
Uh, I think not, actually.
That's more like glaive - guisarme, or whatever - glaive with kind of hooks or protruding on the rear. Today people try to make classifications and stuff, while it's obvious that actual users couldn't care less about names.
Fauchard is 'officialy' simply glaive like polearm with blade visibly curved and edged on inside, concave side.
Kind of dacian falxs, and polish war scythes were pretty much somehow improvised fauchards.
In fact, "fauche" means just "reaping" or "mowing" in French?
Spoiler
And here, similar to yours, fauchard - fork? it seems...
It's hard to find a good picture on the net anyway....Last edited by Spiryt; 2010-11-04 at 07:11 PM.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
Basically an arrow with a handle(not actually a siangham but the metal rod and sharp tip part are visibly demonstrated by a similar weapon). A metal rod with sharp pointy end that you stab with.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
So it's more or less a very short spear?
That would depend on how were haft and a blade scaled, but it most certainly varied, like with anything else...Avatar by KwarkpuddingThe subtle tongue, the sophist guile, they fail when the broadswords sing;

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
Something like that- though the blade is described as axe-like-
it's a martial two-handed weapon, no reach, you can choose to do either bludgeoning and piercing damage (morningstar side) or bludgeoning and slashing damage (blade side).
I know the points stick out a bit on the blade side as well- but I'm guessing that's ignored for mechanical purposes.Last edited by hamishspence; 2010-11-05 at 05:23 AM.

Re: What dose weapon X look like?
Executioners mace is good for hunting undead...overcome DR/slashing and DR/bludgeoning...not many other weapons do B & S damage (the gyrspike, that's a bit naff, and exotic, to boot, and a couple of other exotics)...
