Spells with Passive Bonuses
I was reading through Dragon Magic and found the Sorc/Wiz6 spell Haze of Smoldering Stone (Which looks awesome in the graphic) and noticed this:
Special: A character who learns this spell gains resistance to fire (+3) which stacks with any other sources of fire resistance.
Just knowing a spell grants bonuses? Hell. Yes.
Any other examples of this?

Re: Spells with Passive Bonuses
There's a few more misc spells in that book that grant +1 competence bonuses to various skills, as well as Burst of Glacial Wrath which grants 5 cold resistance (but is a 9th level spell so a dubious use).

Re: Spells with Passive Bonuses
Do you get the bonus from just knowing the spell, or from having it ready to cast (i.e. prepared for a Wizard, on your Spells Known for a Sorcerer)? I know I've seen a few of the latter, but I don't remember ever seeing a spell that gives you a benefit just for having it in your spellbook, and I have read Dragon Magic.

Re: Spells with Passive Bonuses
Technically it says "A character who LEARNS this spell"
This means you don't have to keep it either.
