Most prevalent energy types in DnD 3.5

A character I'm making will be taking one or more feats that give defense against a specific element, and I'm just looking for advice on which element to pick. I assume Fire would be the element I'd run into the most, but I wanted to check to be sure. Thanks.

Fire is your most common element encountered. Probably followed by cold.

I'd put sonic as least common.

Fire and cold are common, with fire by far the most so.

Acid and lightning are less common.

Sonic is the element everyone forgets.

Fire is definitely the most common. But I would put cold and electricity as tied for second (this could just be the groups I've ran with over the years), with acid and finally sonic.
