Question about the Blade of Pain and Fear

Hello I noticed something that took me by surprise while browsing Libris Mortis. The Blade of Pain and Fear spell allows you to make touch attacks with it and if it hits than the opponent has to make a save or become frightened. Now here is where I am confused, there is no duration for the frightened effect of this spell it simply says "Must make a saving throw or become frightened". Does it last for however long the spell lasts? Because if so that is really scarily good. The spell lasts for 1/miunte a level but also has a range of 0ft. Meaning it can be persisted. Please tell me I'm missing something, a 24 hour fear effect?!?!?!?!

The spell compendium version of the spell fixed that, and it supercedes the Libris mortis version. The fear effect remains for 1d4 rounds.
