    Default Refuffy question

My next character is going to an ex-assassin CE halfling bard. I'm thinking of going into master of masks. Do you have any suggestions as to how to make the bard class more assasiney?

Train hide and move silently (or stealth, depending on your system).

Multiclass into a class which grants extra damage on a sneak attack sort of mechanic.

Invest skills into creating disguises (master of masks sounds like you're going for a 'hide in plain sight' assassin)

Use a lot of poisons. Use suggestion to create situations where the victim will not survive.

Anybody who Assassinates is an Assassin. There is more than one way to stab a target then to sneak in through the windows.

Consider, A Nobleman with powerful Foes. One day, a wandering minstrel approaches the manor house, requesting lodging, in exchange, he will gladly entertain the household. A brief performance and some charming makes the guards lead him to the Nobleman, who accepts the Bard's offer.

That night, over dinner, the Bard plays for the assembled house. Maybe, as he makes his rounds, he subtly drops some powder into the nobleman's wine glass. Maybe in his song he weaves in a suggestion spell, and that night one of the guards approaches the nobleman's bed, knife drawn. Maybe simply being in the house is enough, and that night he is able to sneak into the nobleman's room and kill him. A quick spell and he summons a fiendish viper to bite the Nobleman under the table. He uses magic to beguile the guards, making them believe he was in his room all night.

There's an alternate class feature in Drow of the Underdark that trades out Bardic Knowledge for Poison Use. Alternately, Jungle Halflings get poison use instead of the racial save bonus.
