3.5 Epic Spells on Tablets
I was looking through the factors for developing an epic spell, and I'm wondering how recording a spell onto a tablet affects the final spellcraft DC. It's supposed to double the DC, but is that before or after mitigating factors? And is that just for the cost of developing the spell, or do you need to use the higher spellcraft DC when you actually cast the spell? It seems like the doubled DC would only apply to the development costs, but I'm not certain.

Re: 3.5 Epic Spells on Tablets
You double the DC before you mitigate anything and it affects the casting DC as well. You calculate a final DC from all of the stuff on those tables.

Re: 3.5 Epic Spells on Tablets
I always took it that you doubled the *final* DC of the spell for inscribing it on a tablet. After all, the spell without mitigation factors can be an entirely different spell than with them (backlash damage, reduced die sizes, etc...). By using the original unmitigated DC, you're basically paying for an entirely different spell than the one you're inscribing.
