Mystic Theurge Feats.
So i'm playing a game where Im going to play a MT I'm not looking to change this. Despite it being subpar. What I'm wondering is what feats to take.
Currently I have two.
Taking practiced spell caster twice.
early entry methods are banned.
So that leaves me with three feats.
Current build Cleric 3 Wizard 3 MT 3
Books useable are- Core, CW,CA,CadV,CD,DrC,LB,PLHLast edited by Master Thrower; 2011-01-28 at 11:47 PM.

Well, MT's a toolbox for a lot of variety, but it's still useful to figure out one or two things that you'd like to do very well.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
Well, what Toliudar was getting at also was what do you want your character to do? Are you hoping to be a buffer, battlefield controller, summoner....?

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
Might I suggest archivist instead of cleric?
Int based divine casting so you dont have to split between wisdom and Int
also allows for you to learn any divine spell (presuming you can find holy scripture, something you might have to mention to your DM)
Personally I've had much success with item creation feats due to the doubly large low level spell list allowing you the ability to make more itemsSpoilerAvy by spectralphoenix

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
As a feat I'd recommend Alternative Spell Source. It allows you to use Arcane spells in divine spell slots and vice versa but the caster level of such spells is one lower.
Also, it can't hurt to ask your DM if you could use the Domain Wizard Variant.Last edited by JerichoPenumbra; 2011-01-28 at 11:43 PM.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
There are two things great about the Travel domain. It gives a cleric access to some wizardly goodness like fly, dim. door, and teleport, and the freedom of movement effect. The first isn't so hot if you are already getting that from Wizard, and the second is going to cap out at 3 rounds.
I suppose there is a third -- Travel Devotion, but that isn't as useful for a spellcaster either.
Archivist is a great option if you can swing it, but if not you can handle the madness. Just pick a side for buff and utility, and the other side for Save or X and stat dependent stuff.
Metamagic and reasonable reducers are good uses. Metamagic School Focus is nice and well balanced. I'm a fan of the Spontaneous Domain ACF from PHBII. Divine Spellpower can be awesome for all day buffs. Combine with Improved Turning and you can get up to +5CL.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
buffer/summoner doesn't require you to have more than a 19 in each score, and a cleric automatically gets all spells known without having to learn them. I'd say stick with cleric for your purposes.
Feats: Take lots and lots of metamagic.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
For a Buffer/Summoner type, Augment Summon is always handy. You might like tying Spontaneous Domain Casting to your Celerity domain.
If you do go with the Archivist/Wizard Mystic Theurge I would suggest Uncanny Forethought from Exemplars of Evil and see if the DM will let it apply to your Prayerbook in addition to your spellbook.
I'm getting sleepy, which is making me hesitant to dig around in the books for feats you would want.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
You could go with the Sudden Metamagic line; they apply free metamagic 1/day, which doesn't sound great but it lets you maximize your highest level spell slot. It won't keep you up with a full wizard or cleric, but is can drastically increase your ability to do combat casting. Sudden Maximize or Sudden Quicken are probably the best for that.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
I suggest Precocious Apprentice (CA 181) so that you can enter Mystic Theurge as a 1st level wizard.
I also second the motion of playing as an archivist.

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
OP stated early entry methods were not allowed.
May I recommend something odd? Wizard 5 / Cleric 3 / MT 1
With wizard 5, you get a bonus feat, which you can spend on the Spontaneous Divination alt class ability in Complete Champion. This lets you sub out any memorized spell for a spell of the Divination School... but it does NOT state that it works only for wizard spells.
Now I wouldn't try to put a cleric spell in a wizard spell slot or anything like that, but being able to swap your memorized cleric spells for ones like Divine Inspiration, Know Vulernabilities, or (most especially) Alter Fortune makes for an excellent buffer..

Re: Mystic Theurge Feats.
The thing about the MT is that it alters the rules of a Cleric or Wizards slightly; since you get all of the cleric spells you want to pick wizard spells that do not do the same thing as your cleric spells do. For instance; Fireball=/= Flame Strike, so you shouldn't take it. However Scorching Ray doesn't have an equivalent Cleric counterpart, so you could take it. Mostly the Wizard spells are going to be utility spells, since the Cleric lacks many of those.
