Default [3.5] Items to aid hide and move silently?

So I got this Owlbear PC...and he has two levels in rogue....

Please tell me all the items you folks know of. Thanks!
I just want someone to hold me and tell me they love me. Especially when I am sad.

You can get Shadowed and Silent Moves added to your armor. They give variable bonuses to each of those checks depending on what degree you purchase. Otherwise, Cloak + Boots of Elvenkind each give bonuses. You can reverse engineer the cost of the items to figure out that skill bonuses cost 100g * (bonus)^2. Thus, a +5 item is 2,500g, while a +10 item is 10,000g. This matches all other examples from the DMG and MIC.

Other than that, a Collar of Umbral Metamorphasis (Tome of Magic) gives you the Dark template, which comes with HiPS and a decent bonus to hide.

How come the first thought I had when I read your post was "suprize owlbear buttsechs"?

Shadow and Silent Move armor won't stack with Elven Cloak/Boots (both competence bonuses), and are overpriced to boot. Rod of Cats (10600 GP, MIC p. 56) combines both +5 competence bonuses into the same item, and adds a spiderclimb or darkness effect 1/day, but forces you to carry around a quarterstaff to use it. The Cloak of Stone (8000 GP, MIC p. 88) is cheaper and also has a meld into stone effect 1/day, which can be a real life-saver in a pinch. Mantle of the Predator (8000 GP, MIC p. 200) is the same price, same bonuses, and gives you +1d6 pseudo-sneak-attack damage.

    Optimizing Hide checks:

Start with Chameleon Leather (+2 circumstance bonus on Hide checks, Serpent Kingdoms p. 148) or Shadowsilk leather/hide armor (+2 untyped bonus on Hide checks, Tome of Magic p. 155). Adding a Camouflage pattern (+300 GP, FR Underdark p. 66) can add a +2 circumstance bonus in a particular terrain (underground is probably the best choice).

If Symbionts are available (Eberron), get your hands on a Shadow Sibling (8000 GP, Magic of Eberron p. 156): +4 circumstance bonus on Hide checks, and grants a 50% miss chance on one attack as an immediate action, usuable #/day = Con bonus.

Camouflage Paint (1500 GP, MIC p. 153). +5 circumstance bonus on Hide checks, but only when stationary. Lasts 2 hours, contains 5 applications.

    From Shax's Haversack:

    Blend Cream
    Price: 50 GP
    Weight: 1#
    (Complete Adventurer p. 118)
+1 alchemical bonus on Hide checks, stacks with Camouflage Kit and Camouflage Paint.
    Craft (Alchemy) DC: 20

    Camouflage Kit
    Price: 40 GP
    Weight: 5#
    (Complete Adventurer p. 122)
+2 circumstance bonus on Hide checks, stacks with Blend Cream and Camouflage Paint.

    Darkweave Silk Pantaloons
    Price: 108 GP
    Weight: --
    (Eberron Campaign Setting p. 122)
+1 circumstance bonus to Hide checks under shadowy or dark conditions. Note: it doesn't have to be silk pantaloons, but there is no "legs" or "pants" item slot, so anything you wear on your legs shouldn't interfere with your existing armor or magic items.

(Note: you may be able to wear multiple articles of darkweave clothing and stack the circumstance bonuses, but try not to be too blatant about it.)

    Optimizing Move Silently checks:

Shadowsilk leather/hide armor (Tome of Magic p. 155) provides a +2 untyped bonus to Move Silently checks. Add Muffling (+300 GP, FR Underdark p. 66) for a +2 circumstance bonus on Move Silently checks.

Softfoot (50 GP, Complete Adventurer p. 119). +1 alchemical bonus on Move Silently checks for 1 hour.

Hmm... not so much love for Move Silently.

An unseen servant (or Collar of Perpetual Attendance) can be instructed to "aid another" on Hide/Move Silently checks for a +2 bonus.

It's not exactly hide and move silently, but don't forget stuff which is useful to sneaking types but which doesn't give skill bonuses. Dust of Tracelessness is better than Pass Without Trace because it is retroactive. Anything which allows invisibility can be helpful. Tome of Battle has items which allow use of maneuvers; whatever the Shadow Hand one is, consider getting it for Shadow Jaunt etc.

I wouldn't think those would stack. After all, they all are camouflage in some way, shape or form. Camouflage on top of camouflage on top of armor that changes to automatically camouflage?

Ring of camelon or robe of blendingt great +10 bonuses. So far the greater armor bonuses at +15 are the best I can find. Of course anyting that increases your dex or reduces your size will also help.

Heroes of Battle (page 95) has the Camouflage Netting, which doesn't grant bonus to Hide checks, but does allow you to hide without cover or concealment (in a specified environment, only work if you remain stationary). One netting for a medium-sized creature costs mere 25 gp and weighs 3 lb, so I could see them being useful for ambushes, keeping watch and the like.

Should be mentioned for completeness' sake.
